Scholars Say They Were Plagiarized by Claudine Gay, Ignored by Harvard Investigation | National Review
Billionaire confirms Harvard president was DEI hire as dozens more plagiarism accusations emerge | The College Fix ...meanwhile, she is reputedly a bully to the unwoke. Behold--last paragraph of liked article confirms it: "Citing conversations with Harvard scholars, Ackman also noted that during “her tenure as Dean and now as president, Gay has squelched speech she disfavors while defending and thereby amplifying vile and threatening hate speech, exhibiting a remarkable double standard.”
Funny guy. On that note...hmmmm.... I wonder where captain rabbit hole went off to....or the "clown Rufo" clown... Lol!
Lol! Yesterday, you were vowing to block me as part of a temper tantrum when I pointed out that you fell for the echo chamber hard. Now you are thirsty for my attention. Dude, I'm just not that into you.
Lol! You are on ignore. I noticed the post numbering indicated no posts from ignored posters (no skips), though I'm able to read them, when they're the last post. TBL is you backed off bc you don't like doing your rabbit holes alone (ie without your Alice...)--wassamatta? Mental masterbation wiff yo ownseff not fun enough for ya? Lol! And of course, the facts keep trickling in agsinst your girl. Fun fact reminder: YOU initially asserted that academic fraud was A BIG DEAL!!! ...then proceded defend her for non-violations... = faceplant. Where's your righteous indignation now?
Lol, sure. You have me on ignore but are monitoring post numbers to find me. Wow, that is a bit of a sad claim. Either you have me on ignore and are actually doing that or you don't and are lying about it. Sad either way. I didn't post because everything is an echo chamber right now. I looked at the accusations in depth when they came out (something that you desperately didn't want to do). There was not evidence to suggest academic integrity issues. The individual claims were laughably weak (OMG, she used the phrase "racial cues" as it involves elected officials and somebody else talked about "racial voting cues"). You then tried to make the claim that the same accusations being mentioned again by another publication was more evidence. I pointed out that this was not new evidence and is the very definition of an echo chamber (utilizing different publications reporting the exact same thing as some sort of strengthening of a weak claim). If somebody provides actual new evidence, I'm happy to review the specific pieces of evidence. But I'm not going to evaluate the exact same evidence over and over again just because you are vulnerable to echo chambers.
Self plagiarism is very easy to do by accident. Plagiarism in general is usually not that hard to avoid, but sometimes when you’re writing several papers a year in a similar research space and you know the seminal references by heart it can be easy to plug something in to a lit review or methodological explanation and forget to go back and add a citation. By rule, forgetting is still plagiarism but I see it all the time and it’s mostly people just forgetting to add a reference. I’ve seen people reference someone as famous as Bandura and then fail to cite. By no means do I feel some young scholar was trying to claim banduras work lol everyone just missed it. that being said if you have repeated instances over a long career of lifting entire paragraphs without significant paraphrasing or citations, and you don’t just use block quotes, that’s a problem imo. Edit- I think the evidence emerging is pretty egregious. No one is perfect but the academic integrity is a huge deal right now and we need our leaders to be pretty exemplary in that regard. It would be one thing if she was some amazing visionary administrator and maybe you accept a public apology and a few other things but most people don’t even like her as an admin based on what I’ve read. This is the kind of toxic leadership we need to excise from higher Ed admin.
I read both of those columns when they were originally published. Claudine Gay is essentially dead meat. The only question isn't whether she will resign but when.
One would think.... And yet there's this bizarre undercurrent that seems inordinately invested in one person keeping her DEI job, academic, institutional, professional integrity be damned. Sign of the times, it would appear. 21st century in a nutshell: Politics > everything else combined.
If I'm her, I'm not resigning. Instead, I'm closely scrutinizing the work of university presidents at other major institutions and preparing a bomb to drop.
To show that this isn't actually about any sort of objective or consistent standard. The right-wing race grifters aren't targeting Gay because they care about citation errors from years and decades ago.
And if you want an example of it, the NY Post has been one of the right-wing media apparatuses leading this charge. It is now having a hissy fit over the Harvard Crimson not running Alan Dershowitz's editorial attacking Gay: The Harvard Crimson refuses to publish my letter critical of president Claudine Gay The same Alan Dershowitz who faced no consequences for "allegedly" doing the same exact things Gay is accused of doing: Dershowitz Accused Of Plagiarism | News | The Harvard Crimson Dershowitz in feud over plagiarism claim The Case Against Alan Dershowitz
