Yup. When I moved to FL in the early 80s there were 1,000 people/day moving to FL. Now 40 years later it’s the same 1,000/day moving in only now it’s because of DeSantis amazing leadership.

Iowa guvnr following desi lead. Iowans aren't happy

Right-wing Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds had the audacity to cite child obesity as she defended her decision to deprive poor kids of food," author and journalist Mark Jacob wrote in his own post.
"Iowa Republican Governor Kim Reynolds won't provide free lunches to Iowa children but she will have them working in dangerous jobs in violation of federal child labor laws," political scientist David Darmofal wrote.

New York Times says DeSantis campaign has entered the 'hospice care' phase of inevitable death | The Post Millennial | thepostmillennial.com

On Sunday, The New York Times ran an article on the status of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign, indicating that it is only a matter of time before his candidacy comes to a close.

The outlet reported that longtime DeSantis pollster and close advisor Ryan Tyson has privately revealed that the campaign is in the end stages. "Ryan Tyson, Mr. DeSantis's longtime pollster and one of his closest advisers, has privately said to multiple people that they are not at the point in the campaign where they need to 'make the patient comfortable,' a phrase evoking hospice care. Others have spoke of a coming period of reputation management, both for the governor and themselves, after a slow-motion implosion of the relationship between the campaign and an allied super PAC left even his most ardent supporters drained and demoralized."

Another anonymous insider told the Times, "You’re running against a former president, you’re going to have to be perfect and to get lucky.” They added, "We’ve been unlucky and been far from perfect.”

Communication director for the DeSantis Campaign Andrew Romeo took issue with the use of anonymous reports from the media and provided a statement from Tyson to the Times in which he denied making the hospice reference about the Governor. "Different day, same media hit job based on unnamed sources with agendas,” Romeo said.

I wonder if he will tone down the awful shit he’s been doing as Governor once he’s no longer running and thus no longer pandering to the MAGA moron crowd.

he truly believes that what he is doing is his mission. he is not a politician, he is a crusader. i just hope that the legislature grows a spine now that desi doesn't have hundreds of millions of payola from extra covid funds to pay for support.

For DeSantis, 2023 didn’t go as planned. He still left his mark on Florida.

At least 10 national and key-state polls in December 2022 showed Florida’s governor leading former President Donald Trump in the race for the White House. He was fresh off a landslide gubernatorial reelection. A New York Times columnist called him the year’s “biggest winner” in American politics. He was about to publish a memoir seen as a preface to an inevitable campaign. Then 2023 happened.

Whether you want to call the first year of DeSantis’ second term as governor a success or a failure is a matter of perspective. Some things worked; many didn’t. Either way, the year did not unfold the way he and his supporters expected.

He’s far behind Trump in most polls, clinging to second place in a fight with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. This month, the primary super PAC supporting his presidential bid, Never Back Down, split with its chief strategist amid a rift with the campaign.

Through it all, DeSantis’ primary campaign message hasn’t changed: In Florida, I got stuff done. He’s spent the year updating his presidential resume in real time, signing legislation that has not only been central to his campaign, but that has transformed the state.

I don't think he really believes the things he has been saying for the last three years. He didn't say those things before he saw a path to the presidency, but once he saw the opportunity he jumped in with both feet. It will be interesting to see what he does after the governorship.

Maybe all the other states have fallen off ?

I’ve long argued that DeSantis was ‘less bad’ than his peers.

so why is there concern about the Bahamas attacking Ft. Lauderdale? Some kind of ridiculous analogy? I guess I missed some context here.
