Billy G was our position coach under Mullen when we finished #2 for him 3 years ago. My take was that he really wanted to be here with Nick Evers. He would be a HUGE get. One of the best WR's in the country, IMO. And a big loss for aTm. But it seems most of the BIG name transfers end up at Oregon, Ole Miss, Bama or Georgia.
If he really is an Aggie, gosh yes. If he's a mercenary, anything goes. Would be like our best player going to Georgia...wait a minute.
There is some unfounded us-supported chatter that say ETN might be rethinking... I doubt it but that is out there.
After what his mother said, I would doubt it as well. It looked like he entered the portal after we missed on Seaton. I think we will be better on the o-line with the new additions, so he should rethink it.
It shouldn’t be off the table. Maybe testing the waters revealed what he has here is pretty good and/or maybe he is re-evaluating advice based on market value. Regardless, I think it’s worth reinforcing that just because a kid enters the portal doesn’t mean he is 100% leaving. We should temper overly negative reactions or promoting the “we didn’t want him anyway” mentality. It just doesn’t help in any way and I’m thankful that most here kept it classy for the most part.
The transfer portal and immediate eligibility is making college football chaotic. The two most important thing in winning is going to be huge donations and coaches who can transfer concepts to players quickly, getting them to buy in. I wonder when will be the first time we will see shenanigans like in high school recruiting when a player pretends to be available and going to commit only to jump out of the portal when the rival school's options have committed elsewhere? The college game is going to get dirtier and dirtier, and with the money in coaching, there are going to be plenty of coaches willing to go up and down the gutter like AU's coach.
Should he come back he should learn to block. That could improve his draft opportunity. That’s important for him too.
