The football schedule needs to be reorganized to make it as easy as possible. The Gators used to be able to count on at least 3 wins against Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Missouri if not 4. Add in the 2 cupcakes every year and we essentially started the season with 5 or 6 wins in the bank. With the additional firepower coming into the SEC, we need some guaranteed wins. Drop FSU and any other scheduled tough, non-SEC game to ensure 3 cupcakes on the schedule. One of those needs to be late season to break up the 8 SEC game gauntlet. If FSU or Miami want to play Florida so bad, they can figure out a way into the SEC. We don't need to deal with either of them when we are adding the likes of Oklahoma or Texas to the schedule. Some won't like this, but it's exactly what Georgia did last year and it's what we need to do.
Also playing FSU does nothing for us. Strength of schedule? Thanks to the SEC office bending us over year after year, we already have that. Game is at the end of the year when most bowl games have already started to be mapped out. Conference has also been determined by then. It is not worth the revenue to play them and the BS they bring with them.
Not me, I want us to play them always and enjoy beating that azz...... Nothing better than a kicked azz nolie. GO GATORS!!!!
I'd rather make the 12-team playoff on a regular basis than keep playing FSU out of conference. Some of you don't understand the world of hurt we are going to experience with the schedule starting next year and going forward. Cupcake games will be our only easy wins.
Not happening. For the moment, just enjoy their crying the beloved country about being jilted. Then enjoy Georgia ending the debate about whether they should have been jilted.
Our 5 'wins' this year were mostly cupcakes outside of Tennessee. Otherwise, we wouldn't even have that few. McNeese (1-10) Charlotte (3-9) Vanderbilt (2-10) S Carolina (5-7)
And here I want to go the other way. Merge the SEC and Big 10 into a super league and they only play teams in the league. Drop all cupcakes. Let's have playoff level games every week. Survival of the fittest.
Georgia hasn't dropped any long-time OOC rivals since Clemson way back in the 80's. Their OOC rival just sucks.
In all fairness to UGa, they were supposed to play Oklahoma but the SEC nixed it since they are joining the conference. But still, they played nobody OOC regardless.
Three cupcakes per year. Two of them at the beginning of the schedule and one late. Keep fsu on the schedule.
But, when you're in the SEC, you face the man eight times per year. And, then now there is the 12-team playoff where you see the men again. To me, just win and your in is the key in the SEC, not replacing cupcakes with Utahs.
