I didn’t get that at all. He didn't want the press conference to be about kids that didn’t sign, which is understandable. You diminish those that did sign, and we should all do the same. I’m pretty excited about this class. I think we have some difference makers. And watch out for the German kid, I think he will end up being an all SEC player.

It seems like there are basically 2 parts to recruiting. First being able to convince someone to come to the program. Selling them on the idea that you, as the head coach, can provide them with everything they need to succeed and that includes NIL, opportunity on the field and support for a quality education. On this front I think Napier is doing an excellent job.
Second impact on recruiting is more intangible. A culture of winning, buzz around the program and being high profile. Tough to have these things with 5-7. The type of kid that ignores these things is a little rarer. It's the type of kid that says "I can come in here and turn this around, be a hero, that's how special I am". He will convince others of that too which will have players all on the same page.

Mullen, who some say “didn’t even recruit” with outdated facilities:

    2018: 14th
    2019: 9th
    2020: 9th
    2021: 12th

For an average of 11th ranked recruiting class.

Billy Napier, brought to UF because he is a recruiting mastermind, with updated facilities, far beyond what we had a few years ago:

    2022: 18th
    2023: 13th
    2024: 16th

Average: 15th, or 15.66 to be exact, which to me is closer to 16th. So is it really a “Dan Mullen” level class? The numbers say otherwise.

This is the most important post on this or any other thread about Gator recruiting. Let’s not forget it.

i don’t know what the future holds for Billy but the quality of this class is undeniable. Add a few key pieces from the portal. It’s amazing after B2B losing seasons he did as well as he did, but he isn’t finished either.

“Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”

It’s almost funny now, that it keeps getting brought up. It’s like copying someone else’s homework, from the dumbest guy in your class.

Hi Gorn, so some of the UF podcasters were suggesting that UF still has NIL "piggy-bank" money to spend on Transfer Portal Players, as compared to other
programs that maybe "burn't" through the cash for recruits - think Miami, but this is speculative at best, considering who knows how much any program has to spend on anybody, or what is left in the "piggy bank".

If I understand the numbers correctly (doubtful btw) UF now has 77 and can "buy" 7 more transfers. (84).

Of course these numbers can easily change but it seems to be a resonable baseline going forward.

For sure bposs, on National Signing day coach should address all the defections and ignore the signee's! LOL

Having said that, it's undeniable that the day was somewhat dissapointing considering the # of defections and where UF was ranked as recently as a month ago.

And of course the trolls go directly to numbers and are using the Dan Mullen
comparison. Dan's bump class almost completely dissolved and were missing in action. But trolls never let facts get in the way of an insult.

While the future remains to be seen, it looks like the kids that did sign are solid, we got 2 of the top 10, at key positions, and some very good players that one would expect to "stick" and make contributions. The offensive line haul may be underated and under appreciated. We have speed at the reciever position, the two running backs appear to be very good, and I really like the linebackers coming in as well.

There is almost no such thing as a "solid" commit. You have to keep them right up to and after *Rashada* their LOI comes in.

Billy's bump class has a defection rate of over 50% at two years into his tenure. Unfortunately its pretty comparable.

The difference is BN is working in a free market system with no rules or guardrails …while Mullen had several not even make it to their first fall semester.
