I don’t think they are all greedy either. Nothing wrong with pushing the money. I think there is a very big difference in some players or more importantly their “handlers”. There is the guy that will tell you I want to play for you but your offer needs to be competitive. Then there are the ones, a handful of which were today that make it clear that the highest bidder wins period. And taking offers until the last minute. It is probably labeled greedy but I don’t have an issue with it, but you have to consider they will have the same mentality every year. So if you go there, be prepared to be highest bidder every year. Not just a one year bag. And frankly not sure some of those have the can’t miss talent to back it up. I happen to think Lagway (and I think he has been fair with us and classy) has the can’t miss talent worth dropping that bag for 3 years or 4 years at a position worth the money.

Bad comparison. The kids are agreeing to non binding offers and are clear about still taking other offers. The University has the right to pull the offer at any time as well, so it works both ways.

You also need to make sure you’re comparing similar asset values. Top college recruits offer a very valuable asset. Can’t compare that to a job offer for an entry level job in the financial sector for recent college graduates. Compare it to something like the top 100 IT specialists entering the IT sector. That’s a much closer comp- for perspective. My son had a kid in HS get six figure offers to enter the IT sector in the 11th grade. He played the offers against each other and took a job with a seven figure bonus before he completed HS.

Anyway, this is everyone's fault except the kids. The hypocrite’s (NCAA, universities and coaches) have taken advantage of the kids for a long, long time. Their evil has come home to roost… For an extreme example, how much money was Tim Tebow deprived of while at UF? I saw one estimate Tim could have made between $40-$100M in apparel sales alone from the time he won the Heisman to the time he left UF.

What made me see the light on the abuse of top end amateur athletes was a book I read on Steve Prefontaine. For those that don’t know him, he was a huge popular distance runner in the early 70s. He was even part of the very beginning of Nike. He was a big name and on his way to superstar status, but died in a car accident in 1975… In short, Mr. Prefontaine was making a fortune for the USOC in the early 70s and lived in poverty. The USO committee members lived very well flying in 1st class with big paychecks. They did everything in their power to keep the money for themselves and away from the athletes.

So, if you have a problem with the system, just be sure to blame everyone but the kids.

And let's be real. A majority of these players will never see NFL money. So there is nothing wrong with capitalizing on the money when people are stupidly throwing it at you.

Excited about him. Offense should take a step forward. Hopefully new coaches (and s&c apparently) and Armstrong being in year 2 with less friction will get defense back on track to the Gators standard.

Some are, but people are motivated by different things. Money just happens to be alluring especially to those that don’t have much of it. Even honorable people can find its influence corrupting.
