Still lost to New Mexico state, though.... at home, that has to count for at least 2 losses no? If that were us, you already know everyone would be saying an SEC team has enough talent in the 2nd and 3rd string to win that game. Not saying Freeze can't coach or whatever, just pointing out he allowed his squad to lose to NMS.
Billy can recruit, but I don't think he/our collective is going to play the NIL game like some team's are willing to do, and that is somewhat in his control. Now that the university and the NIL collective are working together, we are not going to get in bidding wars - basically throw out big bags last minute to get flips or even keep commits that are being solicited. No more Rashada situations. There are some on here who scream "spend the money!" all in the name of a getting highly rated kids that haven't played a down of college ball, without any thought about the after effects of team balance, unity, cohesion, etc. Getting the best players to commit at any cost is short term thinking. I think there has to be an NIL strategy, not just for recruits but for every player on your team and as I said, I agree with the way CBN is handling it.
I hear you and agree but, it was year one. Bama lost to ULM in Saban's first year, hell we lost to Vandy last year. You get a pass if you don't have expectations set for your team in year one by the general public. Auburn better put on this year or Freeze may face the same scrutiny as Napier is facing
Rashada was committed...to the money. When it suddenly wasn't what he thought, he thought differently. Remember what he said when he "signed" and then when he signed with Arizona. It was all about the money. And I believe in both cases it is his "friends" who are steering him and not his own ego. Either way, you would have a problem on your hand. "Friends" should never be your first priority on a competitive football team. But again, nothing has happened and so nothing but reaction to conjecture.
Not to interrupt the discussion, but since this is a titular ‘McCray’ thread - did he sign with another team? Any updates?
I'm fine with seeing how things shake out over the next few years. I'd like to keep pride in my alma mater. My manhood or ego is not dependent on winning the SEC. Even though losing more than we win makes me sad.
Again, I've seen nothing to suggest it This is a rashana type situation. This is almost certainly other programs coming in with additional offers. Rashada certainly was not.
4:40 ET: Hearing Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland five-star defensive lineman LJ McCray is expected to sign his letter-of-intent with Florida very soon. Lagway and McCray together are the two biggest recruiting wins any program add because of the value they bring to the school they chose, and it happens to be the Gators for both.
