On campus and committed are worthless if they don't sign on the dotted line. Granted, the more you do the first, the more likely you are to do the second.

But as we have seen today, it's not over until it's over.

He gets them on campus and committed. If the fans can’t get the money deals done, that’s on them/us. Maybe some self reflection would do you some good.

So in essence what you're suggesting is, regardless the of out comes on the football field, the University of Florida isn't in a position any longer to compete on the national recruiting stage?

I'm just spit balling my thoughts, I have no insider heat. Just seems like he can get the commitment but financially the NIL piece of it gets trumped the closer ESD gets and maybe the Gator Collective doesn't have the war chest to match last minute offers or doesn't want to.

But yes, overall, 11-14 in two years puts you in situations like this though. If we won 7-8 wins in 2022 and 2023, no doubt we'd have two consecutive back to back top 10 classes.

So your take on this is we are attempting to renegottiate? This is the absolute first time I've heard this. So you have some source to which you can link?

You think that is more likely than the fact that Auburn and FSU have been pressing very hard for this kid?

So, give us your source. I'll take a Facebook post a Twitter post whatever.

Considering how many guys leave after a year or two, I wonder if it is more important to win or to see the field early and enhance your value quickly?

While a losing may be holding us back, it certainly doesn’t seem to be hurting Matt Rhule and his Huskers.

But isn't that because he's getting offers? If I was in left field I apologize.
Well isn't that just new offers from FSU and Auburn??

If I'm not mistaken, the coaches can't reach out to the players, only the players can reach out. I'm not sure about each school's collective, if they can reach out to the player on "behalf" of the schools though.

To your point, it sounded like you thought we, UF, was renegotiating with McCray. If we are, it's because of the other offers from Auburn/FSU. But we didn't reach out to renegotiate just for the heck of it. Which is what it sounded like you thought the other poster was saying.

Bobby, Napier allowed the of outcomes on the football field of the last 2 years, to take away control of narrative and instead allowed his opponents to control the narrative and use it negatively against him and the University of Florida.

Remember who said this: "Why is it during the recruiting process they sign all the great players, but when it comes time to play we have all the great players?"

Florida came into this season with a team composite score, that put them in the top 10 nationally. You said it yourself: "If we won 7-8 games in 2022 & 2023, no doubt we'd have two consecutive back to back top 10 classes"

I cant speak to what is or isn't the financial situation of the collective, but being able to legitimately sell the potential of making next year's 12 team playoff, would have gone a long way to keeping some of the talent we lost and/or acquire some it appears we lost.

Maybe Napier turns it around next year, but after what I've seen the last 2 years on the football field...I'm more inclined to feel Napier has become football's version of "Dead man Walking"

Rumors all over the place that Auburn threw a big number at him late and he’s waiting to see if the UF side will match. You don’t have to believe it, and neither of us will ever really be able to prove anything. The details on the whole Rashada deal are still pretty freaking muddy an entire year later. In these situations, it’s pretty much always going to be just rumor.

I cosign. I said it in another thread, I DON'T think Napier will be the HBC to get us to where we want to be. If we're ALL being objective, we know the end is near whether it be this or next year. Unless we go nuclear in the portal the rest of this cycle, we're still without top end depth on the defensive end.

We haven't signed a class of 25 HS kids, which WAS something Napier said he wanted to do when he was hired iirc, and that's not going to happen this cycle.

Like you and I both agree, he first and foremost put himself in this position by losing darn near all of his games so far at UF which would feature some sort of coaching blunder. Making it easier to negatively recruit against him.

Auburn won one more game, so hard to believe they are selling much better. I am wondering if you believe money has nothing to do with some decisions and/or we are going to spend 'whatever it takes' but kids won't commit due to our coach. Neither is the reality of today.

We still have the rest of the portal period, regular signing day, and the spring portal period to add quality to our team. As others have already said, I'm ok with the way CBN is handling things and I think it will ultimately prove to be the best strategy in today's NIL environment.

Auburn was in year 1 of a coaching change, Billy's in year 2. If Auburn has another losing season next year, we'll see if they suffer the same recruiting issues we're facing. I said in another thread that Billy can recruit, nobody is denying that, but there's things out of his control that hurts him, money, when he can't rely on his coaching record to sway kids to sign on the dotted line.

Billy needs to stop giving other schools ammo they use against him on the recruiting trail.
