i don’t buy for one minute that we landed a big fish flip. I got fooled with the Harold Perkins and Citizen talk along with numerous other big names supposedly committing on last ESD and we got ghosted. if something happens, great, but I’m not Fox Mulder today.

 

I’m friends with a few game wardens and this is what I was told. I’m not referring to the “owned” beds, but the public beds scattered across the bay area and gulf bottom. Now the only “beds” you find are the small floating farms that are owned by some of the families. The decline started with Georgia withholding water and ended with the Deep Water Horizon incident. A moratorium should have been declared 20 years ago, but FWC didn’t want to kill the industry. Those beds will never recover now. Georgia now has SCOTUS decisions to back the Army Corps’ actions and the fisherman that remain will always pick clean what they can find, legally or not. It’s a real shame because so much of the ecology to the east of Appalachicola has been impacted by the muddy waters. St. Marks for example had clear water on its brackish shoreline thanks to the bivalve population, now it is just brown gulf water.

 

When was the last time UF got a BIG flip on signing day? It’s typically the other way around. Not that again today, please!

Thanks for posting that, very interesting. One of my favorite things is oysters, and the very best are Apalachicola oysters. It’s an absolute crime what has happened to the Apalachicola Bay oyster system.

 

Gotcha, you’re talking Apalachicola and I don’t know a lot about their industry but what I’ve heard from my commercial fisherman buddies. I’m talking East Bay in Pensacola, as was the other person.
As far as Apalachicola, from what I understand, yes, Georgia took their water and damaged the ecosystem, but also letting the commercial harvest over harvest was also a problem. I did, however get my first box of Apalachicola oysters this year. First time in a long time.

 

A few weeks ago we had 7 top 100 commitments....today we signed two.

 

How will we close? Insert GIF of dumpster fire or similar. Bad day.

That's apparently a old list...DJ and LJ are currently 4 and 6 overall. We did get LJ so it was 3 we signed today.

 

DJ and LJ are 4 and 6 according to 247. They are lower based on the 247 composite rankings.
