It would be nice if the adults could wrest control of the pub party back from the magats. If the dems really cared about the country, they would do what they could to help them oust the magats but I fear that the dems would rather have the magats in control so it is that much easier to be the lesser of two evils. There’s lots of reasons for that. But he has been. So I think there’s a lot of people who already regret not getting him out of out of the way when they could have. So I think history will be kind to those people who saw what was happening and called it out, even though it was at the expense of their personal well being.
His immunity BS is code for " I am above the law". We have a decision to make in this country: are we a nation of laws or of men. If he is above the law, then what's the point?

I'm not a fan of prosecuting Trump, though I guess I reluctantly agree with it. But can any Trump supporters here justify his claims of immunity? The old Nixon claim "if the president does it, it's not illegal?"
I used to feel that way. Then I considered the likely result. In most prosecutions of elected officials, you don't really consider recidivism as a risk, Bob Menendez excluded. To paraphrase Susan Collins, they "learned their lesson". Thus you balance deterrence of others against the sight of prosecuting officials. Not so with Trump. He is plainly a continuing threat to public safety unless restrained. To paraphrase Jon Lovett, his first term was the "raptors testing the fences". If he is not prosecuted, the raptors will know the fence is not electrified and proceed accordingly

Yeah, I hope Republican SCOTUS reverses. It should require Congress disqualifying him or a conviction for insurrection, treason, rebellion, sedition/seditious conspiracy, etc.
There’s little doubt but what the SCOTUS will reverse this decision imo. It should, instead, be the people who vote the slime out in my view
If SCOTUS were to overturn, but expanded by saying a conviction is necessary as you articulated, could that essentially serve as official clarification/precedent that if he were convicted for insurrection, he could be disqualified?
Proud of my state. A POTUS who led a violent insurrection to try and overturn an election should be disqualified, as they are not capable of living by the Constitution and leading a Democracy.
