Probably opened up after the X flip but a very nice pickup! Florida adds experienced Pac-12 defender out of the transfer portal
TOS said he had a good 2022 at CB but struggled at safety in 23 and was passed over. Don't know if true but curious which position he is expected to play
X more than likely had nothing to do with it. There were already openings with Kamari Wilson and Miguel Mitchell hitting the portal.
Love the Slackman and OT portal commits. This one, not so much. He lost a starting spot in 2023- used to play corner then safety. Ending up being a Swiss Army knife guy off the bench this season after starting last year. Technically, he was considered by Oregon staff no better than the 6th best player in their secondary, as he was behind 2 corners, 2 safeties, and the nickel back. If numbers end up being tight, I’d prefer more of a difference maker at any position than the 6th best guy in the Oregon secondary. Had a good 2022 but only 1 start and 16 tackles in 9 games this year. He doesn’t lift the talent in the room enough to take in my uninformed opinion. Big RJ Moten vibes for me (who also lost his starting job before transferring to Florida). On the plus side, he played in same/similar defensive scheme under Lanning at Oregon so should be easy for him to transition to UF defense.
Does he bring the wood? Need to restore fear back there. Oregon DB transfer Trikweze Bridges commits to the Florida Gators | GatorCountry.com
I think talent wise he is WAY ahead of Moten.....bigger and faster. May not have been my first choice, but IMO he is a definite take. Still hoping we push for the San Diego safety
