    .

Hopefully Cade, Shelly, and Luke will punish them for the disrespect. They’re all capable. Also have Shelton to squeeze in there. Just some guy who hit 25 dingers last year as a freshman playing an sec schedule. Surround Cags with those four guys and, if they do their jobs, you make it hard to pitch around him.

I don’t know if Sully moves Jac in the lineup or not-to me it would be more probable for him to move hot hitters in the lineup to behind him to protect pitching around him. I think you establish your lead off and #2 hole and make your moves around them and Jac in the #4 hole—but that’s just me and I’m a pitching guy.

I especially agree with "move hot hitters in the lineup to behind him to protect pitching around him." I like the names mentioned above, but there will be 2-4 other guys who get hot this season. It could be experienced guys like Evans, Donay, Thomas, Guy or Garrison, a frosh like Yost or Brookens, but there is talent on the squad waiting to put on a show.

There is a lot of bats, no doubt. Should have a lot of guys pushing each other, that’s for sure.

Thanks for the assist. I meant to type Shelton not Shelnut on my previous post. Correction made.

I think Shelly deserves to be there too. :) He makes good contact and has some pop. He’s not a 25hr guy, but he’s definitely a guy who can punish you for trying to pitch around the guy in front of him.

True competition within a club that has bought into your system is a great and healthy tool. IMHO there is no room for anybody that’s not a true team player—usually it’s been proven that Sully’s recruiting process takes care of that issue.

And then there’s the thrill of that “surprise dark horse”….it’s why we all love the game and our Gators.

It's hard to believe that 2023 is almost over and that baseball and softball are right around the corner. Time DOES speed up with age!

Shelton definitely will be critical for success of the offense, I didn't realize he wasn't on the original list, but Shelnut certainly belongs there, too. He may have been the most consistent hitter during the fall- after Jac- scattering hits to all fields with power mixed in. He also is solid on D in OF corners and IF corners.

Yes I feel the same. At fall you could see Tyler has put the work in and his shoulders have broadened. He looks like he put on more weight but also dropped body fat. I'm looking at a player with sure improvements this year.

Similar to what we saw in Langford’s body transition?

You noticed I didn't go that far. HA
Nah nothing close to Wyatt in this case but very few are. Wyatt had more bulk than Tyler does now but that was after 3 years in the program. I'm just hoping the improvement we get out of CF and where ever Shelnut ends up playing helps make up the slack for missing Langford.

Thinking about comparing players, here are last year's stats for the returning hitters with AVG and OPS. Pitchers to follow.

    Caglianone, Jac .323 1.127

    Kurland, Cade .297 .959
    Shelnut, Tyler .277 .845
    Thomas, Dale .250 .867
    Evans, Ty .239 .787
    Robertson, Michael .231 .640

My question was not about comparing ball players talent wise—merely a question about body transitions for the better…..

I kind of thought that and I'm saying Tyler's body transition is still well short of Langford's bulkiness and speed.

  18. Especially last year as we saw at the bottom of the lineup nothing is set in stone, like Sully has said the players ultimately set the lineup with what they do not him. You compete on a daily basis for spots but in the end it's a team game and you win or lose as a team. It's the duty of the utility guys to think they're better than some starters and outwork said starters to take the job.

  19. In the past those fans had a legit bone to pick as our facilities were a joke compared to essentially every SEC school. I don't agree about other sports simply for the fact that the big money spent on the O'Dome and Condron Ballpark was out of necessity. The O'Dome absolutely had to be upgraded, it was way behind the times. I think some of it was done poorly and don't like how we had to pay a bunch to flip the camera, seems basic. Regardless, overall it was a well done project that was necessary. With regard to the money spent on the baseball stadium, that new stadium allowed the football facility to be built in the best place possible, attached to the indoor facility. There was literally no other place on our campus.

Have zero info on academics but nothing would surprise me. I wish the school as a whole was more focused on being a Florida-centered university for kids who will support it once they graduate and and don't view it as a stepping stone but that's another discussion. I absolutely hate the idea of alumni's kids who grew up as Gators ending up at UCF or FSU while some genius who ultimately doesn't care about UF does their time in Gainesville while never giving UF a second thought.

Again Im not sure how all that relates exactly to my post but don't care at this point.
As for your academics' comment, sure it would be nice if every alum's kids could also go to UF but that's just not realistic for the same reason the sports teams aren't comprised of all alums' kids. The best and brightest for sports and/or academics in my book.
