I can definitely see what you do with the tackling but I wonder if that had anything to do with the fact we were playing better offenses in the second half and maybe being so young his head was spinning. When you are thinking too much, you don't react as fast or as violently as you need to sometimes. He seemed to be a willing tackler.
Played much better teams in the second half of the schedule and many of the players were dinged quite a bit. But progression, man I only saw glimpses of it. Too many overwhelmed FR. Hopefully that bodes well for this year if we have coaches.
That’s not what I meant at all Rick. From what I understand it wasn’t just by his choice that he left last season. So thought it strange the re-offer was made. I could have left out the last sentence.
It’s been reported by other posters, not sure if correct, Napier wanted Tarquin to stay. Staffs reaction clearly shows that. As mentioned earlier would be pretty big gift. Billy needs to close as this is an easy one.
I heard differently. Not saying it wouldn’t be a good pick up. If both parties are on board then I am as well.
Agree. Line could be solid next year with one more tackle. If we get Tarquin they’d have combined over 100 starts.
None of us have any idea if Tarquin is an easy one. He might have any number of reasons bnt to want to return. Including lucrative offers.
I just don’t think this is a tough one as I’m not sure he’s going to have a lot of good offers. I’d be shocked if he wants to go somewhere else but I could be wrong. It would make sense for lots to want it since there are not a lot of tackles of his quality in the portal.
We already got a JUCO DL that good teams actually wanted. This guy not taking a visit is not some indictment on our whole recruiting apparatus.
Any of you other folks experiencing an echo in here? Down the [recruiting] stretch we come…how do we close?
I’ll rephrase it. He was in CBN’s dog house after the bowl game last year and responded by entering the portal.
I don’t think he was run out of town, but I don’t think he would have been penciled in as a starter without injuries either. He would have been a very useful depth piece this year, but we knew that last year when he left. I don’t think all exit interviews are as simple as, “you aren’t going to see the field, gtfo”, or “you’re going to be a starter, you have to stay”. Almost all teams are going to lose some key depth pieces, and even some starters nowadays.
