Transcript Dame: Tre Mann... in Oklahoma City... Interviewer: Oh naw, he got a bag... Dame: I don't know if it's gonna be in Oklahoma City, but wherever it's at, Tre Mann is NICE! Interviewer: Yeah he stay getting out there. Dame: When he gets an opportunity somewhere... Interviewer: Boy he gets busy! Dame: Cause they're deep over there, I think he's gonna have to move... when he gets an opportunity somewhere... I'm telling you... he came to... I had my elite camp... we do like a pro camp too with like young pros that's trying to like turn the corner and he reminds me like... how he does stuff and how... like what he's capable of it reminds me of how Ant [Anfernee Simons] is. Like the same thing I saw in Ant is how I see... how I saw him.
Tre become one of my all time favorites. I loved how he overcame the frustrations of his freshman year; worked his ass off and became a monster. A lot of kids would’ve sulked, blamed circumstances and left.
Why does it seem that Gators always get drafted to the worst possible situations in football and basketball? Smh. OKC has him still playing summer league and G-league. Come on man.
Tre is the 7th guard on OKC. Most of those guys came after him. Tre has never learned to play the point, and he’s not big enough to be a 2-guard.
There are not any 6'3" 178lb guys playing the 2(starting) in the NBA. There are very few guys that skinny in the league at all (although one of them is the guy currently beating Trae out for a job).
His weight and height is a non-issue. Tre has had multiple big games in the NBA when given a chance to play. Either he can do it or he can’t. The dude has some of the nastiest poster dunks over the past seasons too. Either you can play or you can’t. He clearly can.
You said he was big enough to play the 2. Now you say his height is a non issue? That's ridiculous. The odds are stacked against him positionally at the 2. All his good hops aren't helping him enough on defense. Too short, too skinny, and he's not long at all. Maybe he can still put on some really good weight. That would help. Or if he's good enough to play the one, he'll make it somewhere. I hope Trae makes it-he wore orange and blue for 2 years, and as has been noted, showed some real character his Sophomore year coming in and being a man.
There's a plethora of talent in the NBA and I suspect there's more to playing than that, being a fan driven entertainment business. Sure would like to see him get more PT - anywhere.
He is big enough to play the 2, and his perceived lack of height is a non issue. That makes absolute and perfect sense and the two statements are complimentary. I don’t see how it is a ridiculous statement. Weight is not important for a guard or perimeter player. It’s nice to have, but not necessary. Tre Mann is too short and too skinny? lol. Man the hot takes are on fire today.
Tre Mann has a very fan friendly and entertaining play style. I’d say he’s got one of the flashier games in the league. That’s pretty much what Damian Lillard was saying. The biggest compliment a fellow hooper can give you is to say that you’re “nice”. It means you not only can ball, but it also looks good when you do it.
Umm, weight isn't important, but muscle is. That's why these guys all started lifting 30 years ago. This is grade school stuff here Murph. So Yes, Trae is skinny positionally, at either guard spot. And short for a 2. If you don't think he's small, find me a handful of starting shooting guards his size-that's all I'm saying. Otherwise have a great weekend. I
Man, I was high on Tre, but not that high! That's high praise from Lillard! I had kind of forgotten about Tre this season. Hope he gets his chance.
