Billy is trying to grow his program by recruiting and developing players. That means he must have something with the AD saying it's gonna take time. Don't expect for anything to happen to Billy until the 2025 season at the earliest.

 

I’ve wondered this, is it a big factor in his process. Is he reluctant (slow) to do a lot of shopping at the portal store because he believes it will hurt the feelings of players already on the roster? If so, that fear should be put to bed, asap, because 2 of his best players just bolted and it had nothing to do with other guys coming in. Players will now leave in a heartbeat for a multitude of reasons. Trying to keep them corralled will prove to be futile. You must now do anything/everything to build your best possible roster year to year. What Billy desperately needs is wins on field, all the above is the box he should be checking to get there, imho.

 

The stands at Florida Field will tell the tale. When they empty out, the coaching seat will follow behind in pretty short order.

 

CBN is calculating. I think his priorities are (based on timeline):

1. Recruiting- Keeping the ‘24 class together
2. Portal - Cherry pick a handful of transfers this period to fill glaring needs
3. Staffing - Hire DL coach and OC
4. Develop and Evaluate - Identify team needs in the Spring
5. Portal #2 - Fill needs as appropriate

 

To late on this one....the best possible result right now is not having it dive down into the teens.

We need more Cherries that have a real impact than the 2 we got last year. So far the understatement of the year would be that the "transfer visits" have been underwhelming.

Yes, please. And turn over play-calling to that OC too. A ST coach might be nice as well.

Expectation is about a top 10 class. Anyone who gets upset with this result is unreasonable

 

Expectation was a top 5 class. The only reason some have reset their expectation to top 10 is due to the defections.

Then you are quite unreasonable. Florida just had another losing season. Getting back to top 10-15 talent is the first step to becoming relevant. UF isn’t gonna be winning a title very soon. But sure do hope we can be better than the likes of Ole Miss. time to realize this is the short term goal for some of the more deluded folks out here.

 

Well saying the class falling to the early 10s on ranking is not holding is a bold statement when the class is presumed to have the #1 QB and #1 DL

The class is #5, right now, just 4 days before ESD. Is it unreasonable to expect it to stay there? All they have to do is sign those guys, already committed.

Some services had us as high as the #2 class in the middle of the season with spots remaining to be filled. Yet it is "quite unreasonable" for us to expect that we close in the top 5. Whatever

 

Where the class is now will change depending on the flips that are projected by the major services. I hope they don’t come to fruition obviously. But lagway and mccray were the two big ones to keep. And they reaffirmed. So anyone who gets upset with it falling if there are the two likely flips, is unreasonable in light of the big time players we are getting in this class, yes.

 

I think Top 5 in the traditional sense has always been a bit lofty. I’m okay with battling the Bamas and UGAs of the world and being up there in overall talent ratings.
