This time last year everyone was losing their minds about how we were going so slow in the portal and all the good QBs were going elsewhere. People specifically lost it when we "missed out" on Leary and had to settle for Mertz. Leary ended up being garbage, and Mertz was one of the best QBs in the conference.

Maybe we should just wait and see how things go

Well to be fair I wouldn’t call montrell and Cyrus as portal gets, more of following their coach from Louisiana. Of those listed Ricky is a first year true portal get.

now let’s be real, what we added from the portal last year, none of them sniffed All-SEC. Mertz, Cam, and a healthy Mazzccua were the only ones to pop off the screen. They were solid, but not world beaters. Banks got potential but he was invisible more often than not. The rest of the guys we brought from the portal weren’t impactful. Moten? Spurlock? Mitchell? George? Nunnery? Those guys weren’t even starters the season before they got to UF.

idk what point you’re trying to make here. Nobody said they were world beaters, but the ones who started were better than the guy behind them and thus were an improvement to the team.

My point was the transfers were better than what was there from Mullen. And you chose to go at Banks. He was a freshman with zero experience from Louisville who played decent, especially for a FR. And he started over McClellan for a reason, who actually had more experience than Banks.

Moten who couldn't play for UF but started games at Michigan Mitchell started games at Ohio State. I stated his limitations at UF. Nunnary started games at Houston. Yes they all lost jobs at the end , mostly due to injury. But most besides Moten played over the current guys.

I was surprised that McClellan didn’t break out last year.

I always thought that Lyons was a much more explosive athlete than McClellan in high school, and that really showed this year. That being said rosters need guys like McClellan. We were actually lucky at DT this year with lack of injuries.

Are we even on the radar for any top transfers? With all the holes on the team, not sure why 1 good portal hit per year would be good enough.

Some of you Negative Nellies on here must be a real joy to be around… not.

Things are going to work out for UF in time.

So, Billy is not taking any portal commitments until after ESD, doesn’t want to spook the HS recruits, right??

My guess is the staff is primarily working on closing out ESD. It's still pretty early in the portal with bowl games and playoff teams still playing. There's also the May portal timeframe.

no idea. But if so, not a great strategy since players can transfer easily now. Hell, the portal is open to enter through December - could sign an NIL next week then jump in portal.

Couldn’t agree more. We need 6-7 guys total from JC and portal combined. We need 2-3 to be immediate impact guys. Grabbing two or three during this portal window would be super important, especially considering we already have one solid JC guy. Just becomes really tough and a lot of pressure to try to do it during the second portal window

Would be unnecessary. If they want to leave before they enroll, they’ll just get released from their loi.
