I hear you, Sifu. But the direct, specific question was, How many consecutive losing seasons = exhaustion of patience? And, again, my answer is three.
This thread is about off-season activity, not in-season records. Why did we not already get Steve Sarkisian for OC? Well, because maybe he's busy at the moment. Why did we not sign all the best transfers from USC, Michigan, Texas, and Oklahoma yet? Well, because those players are being courted by a hundred other teams at the moment. Why did we not fire the AD yet? Well, because that isn't going to happen right now. I'm with you on lamenting losing seasons, but this ain't about that.
A lot of fan bases are wondering the same thing. These teams have no portal commit yet: Georgia LSU Texas Michigan Washington FSU Alabama Baylor Washington State Tennessee Ohio State Miami Clemson Duke Iowa State Iowa Nebraska Oklahoma State
Well, to my point, patience means different things to different people. I thought you meant strategic patience with this coaching staff in terms of when we would start seeing more wins than losses. But the patience you were referring to was patience in waiting for off-season news about staff changes, the portal, recruiting and such. I have no problem with that kind of patience. My objection is to the suggestion that Napier gets one or two more losing seasons before we’re allowed to start challenging his ability to lead this team. Yeah, no. After two losing seasons, his present status borders on existential, and his margin of error for any more inexcusable losses is near-zero.
Most of the best teams are still playing in bowl games... after which there will be a plethora of players entering the portal. Yeah, there were some good players already switching up schools but there will be more coming out in the near future. This portal period ends around January 4th, I think. Still plenty of time for this portal period, and there will be more to come.
Yeah. I can't believe Napier hasn't signed every 5 star in the portal and Patrick Mahomes yet. I also want Aaron Donald and Max Crosby to shore up our defense.
Our coaching staff is pacing themselves for their 3 or 4 wins in 2024. Per ESPN: Florida Gators 2023 SOS and record: 0.803 (second nationally) and 5-7 Projected 2024 SOS: 0.743 (would rank first in 2023) 2024 games favored (avg. wins): three (4.6) After a reasonably light early slate, Florida finished its 2023 regular season with four opponents ranked 12th or better in SP+ in a five-game span. They lost five straight. Next year, they play Miami (currently 22nd) and Texas A&M (15th) in September and Tennessee (19th) in October ... and then finish with five games against teams currently 14th or better. What was just about the hardest schedule in the country is getting harder.
Highland? Islay? Speyside? I'm a highland guy and enjoy some of the sherry-cask Speyside stuff. Islay is too much brine & antiseptic for me. Some faves: - Glen Garioch - Scapa Skiren - Balblair
