What a great show!!!! And another similar piece of fiction, Fatherland, is equally outstanding.

Yes I did, and I meant in in the way in how those people who won the lottery ended up being the worst thing to happen to them.

so we just want to use armaments because it’s “fun”. Ugh. how can the Ukraine war complexities and global ramifications be explained along with the need for our support when this is what they are basing their logic on.

It's old food, and it's not Biden specific, although he is fervent.

The article proves and posits the purported novel observation of an obvious multi-decade truth of US politics - of course we have a double standard about Israel. Duh! It is what it is. What is isn't is new or novel.

Do you think we make all these very expensive weapons and provide a military budget that is more than the GDP of many nations not to use them? In your life how long was our military not deployed somewhere? Probably the longest period was between Vietnam and Grenada, perhaps the longest period of military skepticism since WWII.

    Interesting post(s) wgbgator.

Which bring to mind my own thoughts and concerns about the Barbarian Human animal that we all are.
Having just watched "Oppenheimer" it's not hard to think beyond the immediate need of ending WW2 -

The Manhatten Project was "started" to "get there" before the Nazis, whom were ahead of the US in 1941 with Heavy Water
technology. Oppenheimers excuse was, and it's not a direct quote, he didn't know if the US would use the weapon but the Nazi's
    most certainly would have.

Of course the Military Industrial Complex, having built the weapons, deployed them. There was an argument to drop it in
Tokyo Bay instead of a population center but the military won out on that one.

Interesting how Oppenheimer tried to put the genie back in the bottle (Hydrogen Weapons), rather unsuccessfully.

Now the world has ...what? 25 - 30 thousand of these weapons, just waiting for keys to be turned.

But I do not agree that the worst scenerio was the "allies" winning. Totalitarianism and the Nazi's in particular took modern
barbarity to new heights. The Japanese cannot be overlooked either considering their trepidations in China and S.E. Asia.

Numerous scholars consider that it is only a matter of time before mankind destroys itself, either with weapons, environmental destruction,
A.I. or whatever heinous poison the Human species decides to consume.

it's also frightning to consider the rather under reported facts that myriad scenerios and weapon systems exist that could plunge
    the world into unimaginable misery.

Considering historys rather cyclical nature of unending warfare and barbarism, considering that is the inherent nature of mankind and
it's fanatical tribalism, considering religous, social and racial intolerance.........it's just a matter of time before the wolves of hell are unleashed
    on a golbal scale again.

Lets look in the mirror - The shining beacon of Freedom itself, the good ole USA, may very well have the constitution ripped apart and
a self proclaimed emperor "exalted" among the masses.

Hell the Christian Nationalists all thirst for destruction so they may make an early reservation into the pearly gates.

Myself - I see a helluva correction coming to the human state of affairs, and it will not be pleasant, except maybe for
a very few in the gilded classes, probably in fortified and very deep bunkers.

To quote from one of the GREATEST MOVIES of all times:

MR PRESIDENT, we must not allow a Mine Shaft Gap!

"Mien Fuhrer - I can Walk"

Yeah, it’s the so-called Christian Nationalists who are driving our wars overseas.

This is not what I said at all, defeating fascism was a great thing and worth going to war over, particularly since we were declared war on. I just said it was the worst thing that happened to us, mainly the manner of victory, emerging comparatively unscathed, roughly 8 million people under arms, massive industrial capacity and holding the world's only nuclear weapons. As I said earlier, its kinda like those people who win the lottery, but it ruins their life. Germany and Japan learned something in defeat, I'm not sure what we learned in victory that is positive for our present and immediate past.
