As long as it is THEIR religion.

 

I recall with similar amusement the butt hurt that ensued when a after school Santanic club was started in a Utah (ironic) public high school.

 

So much so that the school district reversed their policy I believe.

 

These are always interesting. We had a local version of this in 2016 with respect to prayers at City Council meetings. Was a complete circus with people warning about demons and curses once the Satanist was given his time.

Ah well, it’s not like the US was ever really a Christian nation. And it’s certainly not that now.

 

I think the Moms of Liberty three-way was a clue that this isnt really about religion in a time where America is more secular than ever.

 

This is an instructive situation. Not because the display of religious idols in public buildings is particularly interesting, but it is a clear example of a more general phenomenon that keeps arising: so many people don’t seem to appreciate that once they open a door in a society ruled by law, others will walk through it.

The guy should get whatever is the standard for vandalism and destruction of property. Probably a misdemeanor anyway in this case as I don’t think Satan was very expensive (looks like the head was made of foil or something lol). But to discourage fools like this I’d suggest a fine and 30 days in jail.

I’d probably give him a pass on the “hate crime” charges, although technically they could probably be applied.

 

Out of curiosity; what was the Satanist’s prayer?

 

This stuff always bites them in the ass. What they really want is freedom for Christians but nobody else. Unfortunately for them, the Founding Fathers didn't want it that way.
