Reid, Mahomes blame refs for Toney being offsides

Wah, wah, wah.

 

No doubt Toney was offsides and the penalty should have been called. But what a great play by Kelce!

 

Not a good look for Toney. Not sure if yelling at the refs wasn't as much about taking the attention away from Toney than actual anger at the call. I'm sure the fans and press in KC are killing him today.

 

If a WR checks with the sideline ref, gets a thumbs up, can they still call them offsides? I can only assume the sideline ref did not tell Toney he was good when he checked and Toney ignored? But then the confusion that the ref gives the HC a warning?

It was a great play.

 

I guess the issue is that usually the refs let receivers know they are offsides but this time they didn’t get a heads up.

 

Why would the Refs let O players know they've lined up off sides and not the D???

 

And on the next play the refs didn't call the offsides on von miller...

 

I always thought it was the receivers job to check with the refs and I don’t think Toney did that

 

Toney was off sides, he was off by about a foot, that sucks for the Chiefs, but apparently they weren't supposed to call it??

Chiefs are well on their way to reaching Patriots territory with the whining.

 

Geez ... why didn't his teammate tell him he was a yard ahead of them ...

 

Hell, even without the refs input he should have clearly seen he was lined up ahead of the center. Just another example of blaming someone else for your mistakes. I'm glad I didn't grow up in the age where it's never my fault. No one likes taking the blame, but sometimes you just have to. Especially when the evidence is there for all to see.

 

I'm a chiefs fan but the whole WR room is awful this year. They couldn't catch covid if they were in wuhan in feb 2020 bad. Toney has had two mistakes that at least one was a direct reason to a loss (yesterday). Mahomes was pissed because the Line Judge said okay then threw the flag and then on the next play von miller lined up offside and didn't garner a flag. Last week MVS was tackled on the 5 yard line on a deep pass that was obvious PI but no call (he would've dropped the ball anyway). Mahomes has been calm and collective and finally boiled over. Maybe EB can come back after ron is fired in Washington.

 

Yes the call negated an amazing play. But the flag came out at the snap, at that point nobody had any idea how things would turn out, and it was the correct call. There was no real need to crowd the line and all Toney had to do was glance over at the line judge to see what he was indicating.

A no good mental error and sadly it is all on him.

 

People hate on Mahomes and the chiefs because they have been on top for too long. They have been the beneficiary of bad calls in the past but they have had their share of bad calls go against them as well. Mahomes is probably frustrated by his trash receiving corps and the ref calls the past two weeks ha e probably pushed him over a bit.

To mahomes credit he hasn't thrown his receivers under the bus despite having plenty of opportunity to but people still hate him...weird.

 

Apparently offensive offsides has not been called in years. Only one such call last year. 11 already this year. I think Coach Reid’s argument is that he has coached in the NFL a long time and this has not happened before. Mahomes said in his career that had never been called. Should let coaches know if you are going to change rules. No sympathy for Toney however.

 

Hey, if the refs can let Lebron James take 4 steps to the basket for a dunk and not call travelling, why can't a Mahomes-led team get at least one yard offsides? Haven't they seen his commercials? He is as big of a star as James and Brady. Reid too.

I guess the "Ma-autos" aren't automatics. Oh well.

 

Maybe Toney should focus on the game at the moment instead of thinking about how he was going to strut into the endzone. He's looking toward the ball. How he missed it is crazy.
