In the 4th quarter we were outscored 20-8. We were 3-19 from the field, 0-9 shooting 3's with ZERO assists. That's playing dumb and, honestly, selfish IMO. For the game we shot 14% from the 3-point arc, 3-21. We had 10 more total shots than them for the game, outrebounded them by 4 and outscored them in the paint 36-24. But only 7 assists for the game tells me right there we're not sharing the ball, not moving without the ball trying to get open and/or not looking to find the open player. They need to figure it out and maybe cut down their rotation so that those who are playing the best TEAM ball are on the floor together more often.
I provide the following game stat line: 3 points scored on 1 of 7 shooting, 0 for 3 beyond the arc. 5 fouls, 2 rebounds, 0 assists, 2 turnovers, played 30 minutes, 10 minutes in the 4th quarter.
True that. I will say I personally like the make up and play of Tulsa. Back in the day I’d have loved to coach a team like theirs. Not great but a fun team to coach. Jmo
Last year we finished 19-15, but only 5-11 in the SEC. We were 11-2 when we started SEC play, lost our first game in the SEC tournament and went 3-1 in the WNIT. To me, we have more individual talent than last year, but are not playing as well as a team - at least so far. The goal, of course, is to improve on last year's results, knowing we have two 5-star players joining the program next year.
Really curious to see if Kelly makes some adjustments. We definitely need to shorten the rotation a bit. About 8 players should start getting most of the minutes. If we do that and Zippy gets back to her old self, I think we can still improve over last season.
