Kugel is interesting. He has the 2nd best individual BPR (advanced +/- rating) but doesn't appear in any combination of best lineups.

Also interesting is Condon. I thought his offensive production would show a higher number. It does seem like he & Haugh work well together, so not surprised to see the two of them paired on a 5-man team.

Finally Haugh, who doesn't have great numbers, appears to be a "glue" guy, appearing in the 3/4/5-man lineups.

Interesting that Pullin isn't in the top 5 individually, but is on all the top lineups.

I'm not sure I understand all this. If we go with a 2-, 3-, or 4-man lineup, I'm pretty sure we'll lose every game.

This is sort of a misrepresentation of analytics. Sometimes it is preferable to use less than the maximum number.

Napier's analytics told us that you have a greater chance of winning with 8-10 players on special teams. And he is a master at analytics. Honest.

The joke that can be used for a LONG time...

As a facilitator, Pullin helps everyone else when he's on the floor & his offensive numbers are #3.

If CTG can figure out the right combos, we might end up with a pretty decent team.

I've been a vocal proponent of bringing Handlogten, Samuel, Condon, and Haugh in on the kick-block teams, but Napier isn't returning my calls. He prefers his 8-man lineup of smallish walk-on receivers.

and if Clayton and Kugel can reduce their brainfarts and sleepwalking lapses, we can be pretty good

Clayton doesn't actually make many mistakes, but I guess the ones he does make seem to be of the glaring variety.

    Our penalty kill is awesome.

Sorry. It is also hockey season.

Added in edit: And also assessed a T.

Anyone disagree that our overall best 5 RN is:

    Pullin, Clayton, Richard, Condon, Samuel?

I'm not saying they have to be starters, but I feel they should be getting majority minutes at this point.

Rotate Kugel, Handlogten, and Haugh as situations call for.

This is pretty close to what the analytics given in the OP. Haugh does deserve more run than he's getting.

I'd really like to see more Condo, Haugh, Samuel front court if/when the situation allows.

Clayton does make a few mistakes I wish he wouldn’t make. But, he is a gamer and can score at will sometimes. But, Pullin is a player that really plays within himself under control for most of his minutes; I feel he is the catalyst, like a good, heady QB.

I also want to see Aberdeen in the rotation. He is oozing with talent. Finally, I would like to see Shimmy in the rotation when he comes back. He is a true stretch big who would allow us to play 5 out on offense, which, I believe, we desperately need to give Kugel and our other guards space to operate inside the paint.

Very good points. I would have expected Shimmy to already be back getting some minutes. I think the timeline was second week of December. One would think tomorrow's game would be a good place to work him in.

You have a good point...our offensive rebounding numbers might relate to crowding bigs around the rim?

It's possible he's redshirting. He's not likely to get a ton of minutes this season.

That's what I've been guessing as well. I'm not sure what kind of shape he's in, but even assuming he's in tip-top shape, the challenge to me would seem to be getting him in sync with the rest of the squat 33% of the way into the season. Not impossible, just challenging. Does he bring enough of something different to try to attempt it? I don't know. He don't recall him being very swift of foot last season. Quickness is what's making this team tick at the moment.

Yup. We lose Tyrese after this season so there will be an opening for minutes for a guy that can get physical in the paint, even though he won't match Tyrese's ability to get up and down the floor.

I wonder if any coach has ever put the three or four players inbounding the ball at the end of the game that he wants to have on the FT line or taking the last shot?

He’s as quick as Nikola Jokic, but not as quick as Omar Payne.
