True but that money doesn’t end up in the student’s Daddy’s bank account. This “NIL” bullshit is all about greed
I’ve looked back at some greats like Barry Sanders and ETN has faired well in carries and production as a true freshman and sophomore. Think he is getting bad advise. NFL found AR despite a poor record. He also missed out on a home after college. Not a Gator and can’t come back in 20 years like others. Post career people will remember his actions and not anything for him in Florida. 5’8” and has not picked up blitz well. Knox would have never played him in year 1. Splitting carries is good for keeping you healthy later in career. Look at Nick Chubb at UGA. Got hurt from too much use in college and then hurt in NFL as well
They are definitely two different things. The schools let this happen though. They would have been much better served to try to get a cba in place before the supreme court ruling. Now the kids hold all the cards and have no reason to negotiate.
I was with you until this last bit. Chubb did not get hurt because of overuse. He got hurt on any an acute injury that could happen on any play. Cam Carroll got hurt like that before the season even started, meanwhile Montrell and ETN made it through the whole season of football without significant injury.
Napier must have been doing something right. Most of CFB knows who he is and not because he's Travis's little brother. ETN was not the top rb, not even top 10, in his class so there wasn't that hype. The offense has enabled him to show out and create this hype, so that accounts for something. NFL wise, I think he'll be limited due to his size and we see the difficulty he has handling pass blocking. I don't see UGA really helping his status any more than putting highlights on film at UF. At UGA, he's going to compete just to get on the field. But, I'm sure he'll do alright. I just think its a grass is greener type of deal unless he just wants to ride the coat tails of others at UGA (which I do not think). We're a better team with him, that's for sure. I just think that's some of the motivation UGA would take him.
If players they start and star for UF leave for UGA we essentially have become a farm or minor league team developing players for other programs
We've reached the part of NIL where other teams are going to buy players off and let em rot to hurt other teams.
This supposes that the player is being paid so much that they are effectively throwing away their chance to get drafted. Not very likely.
Eh, he can have "an injury", play here and there vs cupcakes, spend most of his time getting himself ready for the draft.
I hope we punish him badly next year when we play the mutts. Spikes vs no-show kind of punishment. Dude was never truly a Gator if he goes to one of our most two hated rivals.
Let’s give the carries to Webb, a true Gator. What gets me is people speaking out of their rear acting like the sky is falling. Was Trevor good, absolutely. Is he generational like a Reggie Bush or a Percy Harvin…absolutely not. Fix the oline and our RBs look good out there. People just need to sit back and relax. Our running back room is as follows: returning MJ, Webb, Carrol incoming Daniels and possibly another one via the portal or recruiting. It’s a nice looking RB room, we will be fine
Given his brother's tweets & the running out of bounds vs fsu, which seemed odd, I wonder if he was a disgruntled player & perhaps the parting was mutual.
