There was a post earlier this week, which had some support for the gators just to accept mediocrity. Urban Meyer knows more about Florida than most fans. “Nobody is making the coaching staff stay at Florida. There’s plenty of places where you can go, and mediocrity is accepted, and Florida is not one of them.”
I don’t think he wants to and many may not agree cause he’s a had a few issues but if BN doesn’t pan out I wouldn’t be mad if they gave him a call. Not sure his methods would work this day and age though.
That interview came across my You Tube feed yesterday. I might have to carve out some time to watch it.
Florida does not HAVE to be a two-year turnaround (regardless of what us Great Unwashed think), but it HAS to be a three-year "A-ha" job. Otherwise, you have little chance. Napier is behind schedule. But we shall see.
No one was expecting to be national champs in two years, but we seem to be going down a hill with no brakes. Napier's tenure is going to rely on this next recruiting class right here. If all the losing ends up with us losing key UF players and losing recruits, he's as good as toast. If he keeps a top 5 class, he's still got a shot.
I think what he lands from the portal will make a bigger impact. There are usually only a few FR recruits that are ready to play at this level immediately. Particularly in the trenches where we desperately need help.
Yes, that too. But We've been harping on the recruiting class all year. If that part fails, the optics are going to be too much.
The time has passed for coaches like him, his red ass methods would have entire teams heading for the portal.
He needs a good portal class more than anything. True freshmen aren't going to make a huge impact right away. Portal transfers can. He needs players that will have an immediate impact, because he needs a successful 2024 if he wants to be here in 2025.
He also said Florida fans have a right to be upset!!! and Billy has a process- gotta get it going!! Go Urban!!!!
