I'll be interested in Liberty (+15.5) vs. Oregon Iowa (+7.5) vs. TN OSU (+2.5 - wth?) vs. Mizzou Very few of the other games are worth watching. Throw in the fact that so many players will sit out and so few players will be on the same teams next season and the bowls become a pretty boring sports series. Contrast the bowl games (which mostly suck) with the NCAA hoops tourney and it's night/day.
I liked it when the best games used to be played much fewer day's spread than they are now. Now you have to wait too long for these games to be played out.
OSU as an underdog is shocking. I guess losing a bunch to the portal doesn’t help. The bowls have been bad for awhile. This post-season model is outdated in this day and age. I’d like for half of these bowls and host cities to transition to in-season invitationals or inter-conference challenges like we have in basketball.
Not really unless my wife brings out the honey do list then I’ll tell her about wanting to watch all the bowl games. (I fish therefor I lie)
Absolutely. I've gotta imagine the powers that be are onto this and considering alternatives. As long as the sponsors keep pumping in cash, though, the ncaa might not give a rip about the quality of the product and that's saddening. Hopefully market forces will dictate that they change the post-season format. For example, Start the season with inter-conference bowl games and end it with conf tournaments where only a certain % of teams are eligible in a mini tourney. Then finish with a 8, 12, or 16 team playoff. Wouldn't that be FAR better?
