Thanks. This is the only project that the Architects have done that remotely resembles what they will be undertaking at UF. Does anyone know what they did with the seating sections that aren't depicted on the graphics they provide (I'm sure there are some). Fenway Park Green Monster – Crawford The bolded part of this sentence concerns me: "Crawford was approached by Red Sox project leadership to help maximize the number of seats available at Fenway Park. This entailed the addition of 50 suites, improvements to the existing club experiences, and look for other untapped revenue-generating opportunities" and makes me think of the poorly thought out and implemented "club" renovations of the O'Dome. This whole thing makes me worry because the same athletic department is in charge of these renovations that have handled our athletic ventures so poorly these past 10-15 years. Although they specifically talk about maintaining "capacity" I've bolded the one part of the press release should give pause: "The goal is to preserve the energy and history of the stadium while upgrading the concourses, entry gates, seating, concessions areas and restrooms and enhancements to video boards and sound system.
It's funny that we sell out all the time ( all non cupcake games) and we have so many people that say exactly what you just said.
IDK. I get your point, but this project has me hopeful. BHG has always reminded me of Fenway with the quirkiness and the way it's been added onto over the years. Don't know if there is anyone on here who can speak to Fenway before and after. But if they were able to do a good job with that hallowed ground I'm pretty optimistic about what they can do here.
Nebraska is spending $600 million to renovate its stadium and reducing capacity by thousands of seats.
Which is really my question....Did they do a good job in Fenway or was it a hatchet job like we saw on the O'Dome. I was hoping a longtime Gator/BoSox fan might be able to weigh in. One concern is if they start messing with seating and be forced to bring the venue up to current ADA and fire code, the Swamp we know and love may permanently cease to exist.
This isn’t about fans, they could give a rip about the dude who works for a living to pay for a couple of season tickets to enjoy the game with their spouse or kids and buys a few hot dogs and some nachos while they are there. This is about corporate money, luxury boxes and amenities for the 1%, that’s why the number of seats for mere mortals are being reduced to make more room for the fat cats.
I would be interested in their attendance figures. Are these architects associated with that venture? Nebraska has certainly been pathetic for 20 years, but I thought their attendance was still quite robust.
I'm under the impression the Fenway renovations were good. But you are correct this firm seems to mainly have experience with new construction stadiums and arenas and not renos.

Exactly. With HDTV and travel costs, you'll probably never fill the stadium except for maybe 1-2 games, even if you're winning. This is the trend in all sports stadiums. Reduce capacity but make the fan experience better with premium seating, video screens and nicer amenities so they can charge more and keep revenues up.
Looks like Nebraska is using HDR, a big firm with an office in Omaha but not a lot of sports experience outside Nebraska.
Why are they even bothering moving forward with this? If you are not willing to invest in the product on the field, then this is a waste of time, energy, and money.

I'm talking fannies in the seats. There are plenty of empty seats at most home games. Especially on the north end. All of football has been seeing a decline in attendance. There has been a bit of a bounce back since covid, but I expect things to return to the pre covid trend eventually.
