There is a deep, deep, deep pool of talent on the portal. We have no idea who Napier is going after, but there is elite talent to take the spots of every single guy who transferred, and then some. That said, it does not seem that we are being very aggressive in the portal this year.
That's the thing - we aren't shopping the portal we are poaching the best players at lesser brand schools with our brand and $$$
So why isn’t Ok State winning anything? They have the money to do it? Rich folks aren’t dummies, they need a roi on the money they invest.
We do know who Napier is going after. There’s a running list on TOS. Here are three visiting this weekend. - Wisconsin WR transfer Chimere Dike - Penn DL transfer Joey Slackman - Pitt DL transfer DeAndre Jules - Oregon DB transfer Trikweze Bridges
T Boone is dead. If he was alive, they'd be in the playoffs within a few years. He had to buy stuff for the program like a new (nice) stadium. But couldn't directly pay players. Oregon with Phil Knight is going to stay on the top. Texas has so much money, can't even name them all. Be interesting to see what UF donors level is in the $ rankings.
Guys that our coaches believe can contribute. Based on their past evaluations, I have no reason to question their ability here.
Maybe. Florida is ranked somewhere in the top 10 of NIL and top 5 in donor base. There is plenty of gray area between NIL (poor donors like us spending between $0 and $2,000 a year) and rich donors (Bull Gators and millionaires with their names on buildings) in terms of paying for players but not paying for players. At what point do us poor people get tired of paying for autographs and merchandise without getting winning football? At point does Gary Condron and Hugh Hathcock stop paying for million-dollar tax write-off facilities that do not result in championships? If anyone knew the answer to these questions they would be advising the University of Florida and making a lot of money right now.
Ah, two birds in a bush. We will see. Personally, the way things are going, I would not go counting that class as anything until Signing Day. Now predict how much “time” Napier has to do something with this class, assuming he signs it.
What leads you to believe this administration is using good advice based on the results of the past decade?
They don't stop. As long as they are wealthy and need the write off to lower their tax bill, they want a winner but it is a secondary reason. Edit: they could always donate to something else for the tax write off. But it is the write off they are after. They are more likely to stop giving to the collective before the cut off the university.
We should be the most active university with kids in portal or not currently in portal. However the kid playing LT at Minnesota right now needs to hear UF wants him and will pay$$$ for him to transfer and play the best schedule in America next year is what we need to figure out.
I'll let you guys figure this out, I have better things to do with my time. My interest in "College" football is down about 99%.
As one UF beat writer likes to say often, “Florida is not exactly shopping at Neiman Marcus, more like Dollar General”.
