From what she said, if he was the number 1 back instead of the number 2, he might still be here. That might make the platooning idea more palatable. We also seemed to switch every series no matter how the back performed the previous series. I agree with some of you saying that he is more of a spread RB and think he doesn’t quite fit certain aspects of Billy’s offense at this point in his development. I think that is also playing a role as well.
He had some games with under 5 carries...only 4 games in his carrier at UF did he get 15 or more carries. For a game breaker talent like him thats an insult. Its egg on our recruiting for future running backs too. Unless you like having a "were playing a bunch of freshmen excuse" every year you need to be able to develop your guys and keep them on the club instead of starting over.
I think the schedule will prevent that; a winning season would be great. On the other hand, many SEC teams will play more formidable schedules, but not like ours.
It’s just another in a line of guys leaving to go start elsewhere, while our depth gets worse and worse.
got to say. what i have seen on twitter is pretty illuminating on #7. if he ends up at georgia, i'm not putting this one on napier.
Honestly I'm done with college football until they figure out this portal/NIL thing. Imagine professional sports if everyone was a free agent every year and there were no salary caps. What an absolute cluster!@#$.
That's just dumb though. Not a team player if that is really the reason; and it certainly looks like it is. It was obvious they were joint 1st string to anyone with eyes. Montrell is a more traditional back; ETN was game breaker. It was a great 1-2 punch.
There is no such thing as a feature RB anymore. He’s going to be rotated with another back wherever he goes. The Etiennes are coming across as toxic.
I agree that it is a great 1-2 punch. I have a hard time believing it is about playing time. ETN is getting his burn next year no matter what. It is something else. Kid probably just wants out, maybe was never sold on being a Gator.
The portal and no loyalty will ruin college football. Miss the old days when kids played for a college and not NFL money.
That's what I believe. The thing is, ETN was/is probably going to be the #1 back in the SEC. If $$$ is what it is, then make sure he gets his $$$ to stay here. We aren't talking about holding onto some average player, we are talking about an elite difference maker.
I think the only way to curb the insanity is to go back to transfers sit out a year. No waivers. The only exception is for grad transfers.
