Good ol racist AF Palatka. I stopped at a convenience store there on the way to the beach one time and a guy in the parking lot had a black dog. The dog had jumped out of the truck and he said "N---r, get back in the truck!'.
Small towns, especially in the South, are very tribal, and folks in power, e.g., mayors, preachers, etc., encourage and reinforce it as a way of controlling the masses.
Dont kid yourself, it isn't limited to the south. I met more racists in rural Pennsylvania than I ever met in rural florida
