Yes I did buddy. 5 degrees between my wife and I. 3 kids born at Shands. you should read the fine print.
I can accept not being a dynasty like Bama or even UGA. But I do think at a minimum we should be on the upper end of college football. There is no reason we should not be at least top-4 in the SEC almost every year. I would be happy if we were winning 8-10+ games a year on average, and at least being in the hunt for the SEC title game most years. It would be nice if at least every 2-4 years you get to play for the SEC title, and the years in-between you are only 1-2 losses out of it. I just want us to look competitive, recruit solid, put guys in the NFL, and put together a run every couple of seasons.
Hmmm. Starting to see a pattern here... If it's more than a couple of sentences you skip it altogether. You must of read the book sleeves in school for book report assignments. Reading is your friend, the smart minds read quite often. But most of it isn't worth you time...I wonder if you got beat up a lot in school? Freedom indeed... Go Gators
Until air conditioning came along in the sixties, no one wanted to come to Florida, and I'm not just talking about athletes. In 1950 Florida was 20th in population. In 1960 Florida was 10th in population in the US. Now, it's 3rd and gaining. 2.7 million in 1950 to 22.7 million in 2023.
To those who do not understand the deep south, this would seem silly. I can tell you it is not, although I disagree about the "level of wealth". I might agree if you meant the "level of wealth" the boosters are willing to pay. We have the wealth to match them 20 to 1, if not more. Not to talk about myself, but my dad's family was waaay old Florida, like 200 years, my mom was from Chattanooga, my wife was from Mississippi. I know Southerners. College football was their way of showing the Yankees that they still hadn't conquered the South. That the Confederates could still kick ass. Florida guys were looking at girls in bikinis on beaches, and doing many other things. Plus, many of our residents were from the North. This has always made us different than them. They have nothing else to do in Alabama outside of college football. The deep south universities, outside of us and Vandy, value only one thing: sports. Prediction in point: Auburn under Freeze is going to kick ass, because that is all that university has going for it, and that is all that matters to it. They will do, pay, cheat, whatever and however, to win. We won't do this.
I called this day many years ago as it was obvious thar the powers to be within the University were moving on from the other sports centric SEC schools. It is what it is. It was a fun ride while it lasted.
Maybe Napier is such a nice guy that hiring coaches who will lose their jobs along with him, is more than his pure soul can take.
Last week I wrote the following post ---- I fear the UF will never again be relevant as a college football powerhouse. Our future will look very much like the historical past of Virginia, NC, Cal, Maryland, etc. I think we'll occasionally have a great year and might even make it to the final four but NC's are over for UF. If not for the expansion to a 12-team playoff, we would very seldom (once every 7-10 years) make the four-team configuration. I ABSOLUTELY HATE what has occurred to once the greatest amateur sport ever. The future of this sport SUCKS. I'm glad my aging out.
