It’s just a bunch of 18-21 year old kids wanting money. Let them leave. There are other entertaining things to do/watch with your time
I obviously don’t know what is going on in Billy’s head, but it just feels so much like he has the blinders on and doesn’t acknowledge the problem(s). I don’t know if it’s ignorance or complete immersion in the”process” or what. Regardless, there just seems to be no sense of urgency. It’s driving me crazy that ESD is approaching and we have critical unfilled coaching positions.
And these kids think this behavior will inspire me to want to pay them? Nah, I now don’t even care about their names, image, or likeness. Spend four years, graduate, and I’ll pay for your schtick, jersey, or whatever contract you hold. Pull this and want my cash? Gator Bait Felicia!
The effects of underuse of ETN to the Gators is one thing. But, the impact of running backs being under-used is overrated in terms of long-term benefit for the player. The net result of an RB being platooned is that he makes it through the season with both knees, ankles, and shoulders intact. Yards per carry is more important for evaluation of the player. There is no way that the amount of carries that ETN got this year as a sophomore hampered anything for his future. Alabama and Georgia players platoon, too.
This situation for Billy is starting to feel like the time Mac lost Will Grier after the suspension. That decision probably cost Mac his job and doomed us 4 to 5 years of poor QB play.
This whole situation is a microcosm of the state of college football today. If CBN isn't able to turn this around in a year or two, the last thing i would want to do (if i was a mega booster) would be to give millions to a coach who has failed.. Another Saban won't be walking through our front door anytime soon.
'We are the people who happened to live in Florida for a bit' doesn't have quite the same ring to it but it could catch on. Who knows. Just add some piped in music and social media hype and you'll be onto something.
Most likely one won’t be walking through anyone’s door. I don’t think it’s possible anymore to do what he did at Alabama.
Bye. Best of luck with your future endeavors. And no, you're no longer a Gator which I suspect means little, understandably.
This isn’t a UF problem. OSU, the crybabies at SOW, etc. are all seeing dominant players (starters) entering the portal. This is what NIL and the wide open portal policies have created. This kind of B.S. is what eventually lead me to care so little about anything beyond the game, that I stopped paying for insider information. The passion of the athletes for their schools that we grew up with is dead sans a handful of kids. I’ll watch on Saturday, but I’m no longer invested in anything having to do with individual athletes. I can’t wait until this reaches its eventual ending. CFB will find its way into a minor league system with farm teams. I will laugh hard when the next gen of players sees how small of a check the minors really get. It is after all, the true market value of a non-pro athlete.
This reminds me of 2013 when Chump got trolled by Dalvin Cook. Its hard to turn the narrative around and odds are Napier will not be able to do it. Let's see if this recruiting class can hold up. I have my doubts, the momentum has turned negative.
What do you do when your process is broken or obsolete? BTW, you are correct in that there does not appear to be a sense of urgency. Meanwhile, Rome continues to burn.
I think obsolete is the operative word here. Norvell knew he wouldn't get a fourth year if he didn't do something. He hit the portal big and it worked. So, this long game may not work anymore with the portal being what it is.
Sure they will, just "back up the Brinks truck"! Some on here are really good at spending other peoples money
It almost makes recruiting irrelevant. Though at the end of the day, you do have to have some base of players that you developed as a program and are successful as starters. But obviously with starting players both leaving and arriving, it means things can swing wildly pretty quickly depending on the portal. I don’t think it’s sustainable the way it’s being done now. Already seeing players in basketball and football that played for 3 or 4 schools. At some point it’s ludicrous.
