Plus offensively for comparison we averaged 6 or 7 more yards of total O than Bama and 7 points less in scoring. What would our record be with competent D?

First of all...lighten up Francis...I mean, come on.

Big winning programs have OC's in most cases. Have you ever seen a shot of the UF 'booth' on TV? Because there is no-one there!!

I hope Napier is here a while, but I don't see him as the robust OC. (Maybe he would be with 10 5 star O-linemen) A recruiter, yes. General manager, yes. Game changer for kids lives, yes. But if he could free up some duties, get the best, maybe he could coach someone up to block a kick once? Maybe make crunch field goals. Maybe not commit egregious penalties. Maybe not have glaring time management errors. Maybe stuff someone on third downs. Maybe run back punts for TD's...that sort of thing.

And, yes, we need more NIL money to buy whatever the hell it is we need. We need road-graders like nobody's business! I'd love to see a portal LB too, we have some decent recruits for the future, which is fabulous. I'm just scared Napier will be run out of town if he doesn't embrace the paradigm shifts needed asap. Him along with Strickland.

If you compare statistics from last year vs this year, the only improvement, was red zone offense. (this is good) Everything else is a pretty much a wash.

We need money, coaching and recruiting. If not, we'll hover just slightly above the subterranean quagmire of mediocrity, (SCe and Vandy) for enertiny!! And I'm an optimist! Our needs are pretty glaring and obvious.

Now onto recruiting, coaching hires and off-season uni-threads.o_O:eek::rolleyes:

    Go Gators.:)

Kind of like how we hired Billy Napier in November before his season was over? He did stay to coach their conference title game but was recruiting and hiring for UF in the interim and than skipped the LA bowl game to come to UF.

Yeah, if you want to hire someone good now is the time. Time to stop analyzing the process and make a move if you are going to. As for our OC I have a feeling the 2024 play caller is going to be a guy named William Hall.

I'm nearly certain it's gonna be a guy named Billy Napier.

Having no coach in place for either DB or DL after firing them last week is becoming an issue for portal visits and high school recruits - keeping who we have and new recruits. It is going to be harder for players to decide to choose UF not knowing who their coach will be. We can tell a transfer/recruit we are targeting this or that coach but without a signed contract the player cannot just take Napiers word for it (as we saw when we tried to hire on the original staff Henderson from the Rams and Tosh Lupoi only to see those fall through and we went to back up plans when we thought these and other coaches were in the bag).

the slow process Napier uses with virtually everything does not help with a successful program at this point. He may be targeting NFL coaches or coaches on staffs in the college playoff but having to wait - while we lose players to nfl and transfer and any more decommits- is not going to help Napier in the short to mid term- he cannot wait and just plod along after burning lots of the goodwill he had after two losing seasons.

What looks like a complete lack of urgency is only making his job harder.
