I heard his name much more during the practices than during the games.

I'm getting tired of it already. I can see one or the other, either keep NIL and get rid of the portal and make it the way it use to be, or kill NIL and keep the portal. I wouldn't want to be a CFB coach. No time off, kissing the ass of teenagers, and have to continue to recruit your roster every year. This isn't basketball with a smaller rosters but 85 scholarship players is not stable.

Is this all part of the process or will a new process have to be bulit to contend with all this NIL and portal 2x a year?

You’re right i just don’t understand what law that would violate. The ncaa is a private organization that set these rules in place, if you want to play for a member institution you have to follow them. Nobody is forcing them to play college football.

Actually didn’t count him next year as I thought he’d regrettably go pro on bad advice. He had a good year not great. Justus Boone is back next year and the true freshman who gained experience last year will be good. McCray will add immediate depth and Pyburn is back. Should be fine next year. Definitely didn’t see him hitting the portal.

General purpose rant: not directed to anyone specifically.

I long for the old days when kids actually cared about their schools. (I assume some still do) There was a brief period where all of that BS settled down for a minute. Now it's back to 'it's all about me' nonsense again; squared. NIL truly has ruined the sport.

    The grass is always greener...

I'm pretty over the whole process. For me, the ones like DJ, Tebow, Spikes, Mertz, Pearsoll, Bordingham, (and obviously others) they make me want to watch football. They inspire others, and most often do it with class.

If I have to hear one more kid say: "Yeah, they put people in the league." And I've narrowed it down to 12 schools! WTF? Really?

No one puts people in the league. The athlete chooses if they want to work hard enough and bust their asses 24/7 to be a potential candidate for the league. And, if they listen to their coaches, embrace some effn humility, maybe then, maybe, after really busting their asses, (not being a victim and blaming) being team players and doing the extra work, maybe then, you'll make it to the league. Because if you don't do all the 'other stuff', if by chance you do make it to 'the league' you'll probably either end up a bust in the game, or in life.

The world right now is filled to the brim with 'takers', it's time some people look to see how they can make a difference, and see what they can do to contribute.

But that is just one man's opinion...

    Go Gators.:)

    Meh.

Top players from winning programs are transferring all the time. It means nothing in today's climate.

And Green Bay is a viable market. That's why it's the richest league in the world with the best competitive balance in the world.

That’s more applicable to baseball. There’s a cap, but you can go over if you pay a penalty and the teams with less money can spend much less.

In the NFL, it’s a hard cap, and the teams are required to spend 90% of their budget. The gaps in pay are not very wide.

I've wondered when the portal would ultimately destroy college football and it's this year. College football is dead, stick a fork in it and move on to a new sport. It isn't guys like Prince, because he doesn't want to be on a losing defense. None of our defenders will ever be picked in the draft in the 1st 2 rounds. Never will happen because Gator defense = UMass defense. We are the stinkers of the SEC. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire defense had entered the portal. Case in point - look at how many starting QBs have entered the portal. More starting QBs have entered the portal this year than all other years combined. I lost count at how many starters left their team and many of them are really good QBs on Power 5 offenses. I was stunned to see so many of them. I call into question this position because it is by far the most important position on the team. It's directly tied to having a great season or a bad season. Take Daniels away from LSU and LSU isn't going bowling. Take Milroe away from Bama and they aren't going bowling. Take Beck out and Georgia isn't going to the CFP - wait, scratch that. They aren't going to a NY6 bowl but probably playing Louisville.

When they hire their Uncle or one of their homeboys from high school, the recommendations make sense.

On the flip side, your post reads like a guy complaining that a bunch of young people you do not know are not sacrificing their bodies in the way that you find most entertaining... I liked the amateur model better. I don't know how long this new product will hold my interest.

This is the logical conclusion to the NIL process. UF may become one of the feeder school to the top teams for the few talented and developed players that they identify.

My understanding on Princely- he is contemplating going pro. However, the advice he received by his rep (guessing agent since you can have them now) is to put his name in the portal to see what type of NIL he could get. When he gets feedback from NFL on potential draft range - if his NIL deals/offers are going to be higher than the expected draft slots for him, he will take an NIL deal. If the NFL draft slot is higher money wise, he will attend the combine and go pro.

this is likely to become standard practice for players projected round 2-3 or in that area as they try to determine which way - NIL or Draft - will pay them more $.

Just curious , what would the basis be for overturning a limit on availability to play in their league? They aren’t saying you can’t go elsewhere, they are just saying they have to wait a spell to play in their league again. They can go make money in Europe or elsewhere, if the player chooses to not honor the commitment. I kind of view it as a non-compete clause that we all sign in our real world employment. I’m not a lawyer, but it Seems like there is an argument to at least corral this wide west of transfer portal madness. Because you can’t effectively run an organization at all if you don’t know if your employees that signed an employment agreement are going to show up for work on Monday. This is insanity.
