Lukewarm at best - Out of position too often allowing big plays - Not a particularly good tackler - Didn't get near as many sacks as someone of his physical talent should get - Thought some of the freshmen played as good or better - Probably closer to don't care than lukewarm.

It's about NIL money. It's the wild, wild, west with no rules. UF admin issued a statement at the beginning of NIL stating they wouldn't risk any perception that they went against any rules. Once again the admin is holding UF back.

Interestingly I know of a HC that just submitted his monthly NIL budget to his collective. It was double from last year.

At least it's just the defensive line where we are absolutely loaded!

It’s just killing teams like ours. What I mean by this is the top teams that have recruited top 5 every year for 5 years won’t be affected much if at all due to the talent level there. It hurts us because our roster is not nearly as good as Alabama’s, Georgia’s, Ohio State’s so on and so forth.

It sucks to lose physically mature experienced players on the DL but he was primed to have a big season this past year and declare for the draft and he isn't so whatever. If he came back it would probably be a disappointment.

Someone who understands defensive schemes better than me may can clarify what I am asking.

Was he playing out of position and being asked to do stuff he's not comfortable doing? When he could rush the passer and play, what I think of as a true defensive end, he looked great. When asked to stand up and cover, or take away the flat he always seemed to play himself out of the play.

I'm not trying to question the guys ability or effort. Just curious if anyone else saw the same thing, or not and could shed some light.

The real question is, and it should have been this way from the beginning, why isn't the NFL dinging players who decide to throw petulant fits because "the mean old coach called me names"? Make them earn everything as practice players for a couple of years before you write them real checks and THEN you would see players acting tougher than they exhibit today.

And I am going to say that their "friends and family" are more involved in this mess than the actual players. See Rashada as a prime example.

IMO, part of me says there was some "gotcha" plays, a la Grantham, in play as a "hybrid", also known as a "tweener". The other is they told him he isn't big or fast enough to play true DE in the NFL. And so, they did this to assist him to grow into a 3-4 outside LB. But in the end, JJ Watt can't do wonderful things if the remaining guys in the front 7 are not taking up enough manpower/focus to allow him to do his thing.

Always hate to lose a quality player but this is the way of the world now. Have to gain more talent than you lose in order to progress.

Just bring back the one year transfer sit out, unless you're a grad transfer or have extenuating circumstances like a sick family member. All of this portal sh*t will settle down immediately.

Nobody will tamper or offer huge NIL packages for a player to transfer if they aren't going to get the immediate benefits.

If a player genuinely wants to transfer, there's still nothing stopping them, but they'll need to sit a year unless they've got a degree.

This is getting ridiculous. How is a coach supposed to build a cohesive locker room and team when players just bail on their teammates, universities, coaches, and fans? This is worse than the pros. At least the pros sign a contract that keeps this nonsense in check. This isn’t even fun to follow anymore.

College football that we all grew up with is dead.

    It is pretty sad.

Last year the offensive line was gutted and this year is the defensive line.
