This is an interesting opinion piece. Nothing groundbreaking new, but I believe it is well written. I think both sides of the spectrum have caused this, but if true, we are in trouble. I found this passage particularly well presented…and concerning.. There has been a seismic shift in the [FBI] culture…n comes [FBI director] Jim Comey and he basically parachutes all these DOJ political appointees into the FBI and slowly the culture shifts over Comey’s tenure and then under [FBI director] Chris Wray it’s accelerated because I think the type of recruit they’re bringing in is more opinionated, more idealistic, more liberal, highly educated, more Ivy League, and they tend to not just follow the facts, they tend to insert their own ideologies, their own opinions because the indoctrination that’s taking place in the schools these days – if you’re virtuous and you’re highly educated, you do everyone else’s thinking for them. You can decide that President Trump is not fit to be president, therefore we need to go after him. You can decide that domestic terrorists only exist on the right side of the political aisle, not on the left side of the political aisle. You can pick winners and losers…It’s no longer ‘Let’s just follow the facts.’ What I witnessed at the FBI will be the agency's Waterloo
Wasn’t the FBI founded to spy on private citizens and wasn’t J. Edgar Hoover a racist cross-dresser ?
Wow, very cool that Trump's hand picked FBI director is 'liberalizing' the FBI (continuing the work of another Republican, James Comey). Maybe we should shut it down until we figure out what's going on.
What am I going to gain from reading a partisan opinion piece? I can simply use my brain to know that there is nothing "liberal" about the FBI, I cant even think of the last director that was in any sense a political "liberal" or even a registered Democrat. The FBI are cops!
"Oh no! A branch of law enforcement is prone to over indulging in their own self importance! This is unprecedented!"
Since the beginning, the Bureau has always favored hiring people with college degrees from top schools (generally not the liberal arts type degrees though), that really seems to be the "proof" of liberalization, which I think says more about how conservatives think than anything.
Because this staunch conservative ex fbi who retired back in 2015 and is all worried about culture wars says so?? he “thinks”…. “….I think the type of recruit they’re bringing in is more opinionated, more idealistic, more liberal," …..and culture wars is a big priority. “Yet in 2015, a handful of FBI agents complained about a "wax-like, life-size figure of J. Edgar Hoover" positioned within the New York division’s museum. What was the reflexive decision by FBI headquarters public affairs office? Immediately remove the "offensive" statue so as not to "trigger" some fragile agent. “ (he has 2 other op-eds about how the fbi is “woke”- in the titles) …..and shocker - poor Trump: “Dating back to the 2016 Trump-Russia sham investigation”
I wonder why there are so many FBI-themed TV series ? Do Americans just enjoy watching bad guys on TV ?
I've always thought of FBI agents as being educated and straight-laced. Maybe it was Bill Maher who joked about them being the type of people who iron their underwear. Reminded me of most prosecutors I know.
Yeah, its one thing that has barely changed since Hoover (other than they hire more minorities & women now, in the Hoover days, the FBI was almost all white men). Perhaps that is further evidence in the conservative mind that the FBI has "gone woke."
Very good point. The evolution away from the old boy's club probably makes it feel much more "liberal" to many, even if not in a partisan sense.
If they are going after the orange god, it can't possibly be because they may have an actual case, the only possible explanation is they are leftist radicals who hate America. Carry on and spare your invective.
After listening to that garbage for 7 or 8 years now you would think if they "may have an actual case" something would have come of it by now.
