I am going with just Vandy as of right now. I would add LSU, but LSU has wins over North Texas and Wake Forest.
South Carolina is 7-0 with wins over DePaul, Virginia Tech and Norte Dame. Ole Miss is 7-0 with wins over Temple, N.C. State and Memphis. Georgia is 5-3 with wins over Wake Forest and FSU. Missouri is 7-2 with wins over Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Wichita State. LSU is 5-3 with wins over North Texas and Wake Forest. The bottom half of the conference has gotten tougher as new and better coaches get hired, although Mike White continues to hang in there as one of the worst coaches in the conference.
We will end up top 5 in conference. We have the talent if he can't get this team in 5-6 place would be surprised.
after watching SEC team repeatedly lose this weekend, including Auburn at App State, I think it is wide open. who would have bet that the only undefeated teams remaining are South Carolina and Ole Miss.
Since not a single SEC game has been played, you could pose the same question about any SEC team. I therefore conclude that the only purpose of this thread is to sow negativity.
Are you one of the people who thought Florida should be ranked as a result of its loss to Baylor? Your post is absurd. my point was to try to get an honest answer from people about where the gators stand right now rather than the orange and blue stuff that gets spewed all over these threads. Are you one of the people who posted that the loss of EJ Jarvis meant nothing because we have two freshman big men who will step up in his place? I am simply trying to be realistic.
This is the wrong question. Who is objectively better than Florida (which as yet has still not played with its full starting 5, lost two games by slim margins on neutral courts to tourney teams, had one bad 9-minute stretch to lose a game on the road, and absolutely dominated two ACC teams)? Maybe 5? And whose ceiling is higher out of the remaining 8?
There’s realistic and then there’s pessimistic. Once we get everyone back I think everything will come together. We were missing point guard play against Virginia without Pullin. We were missing interior defense/rebounding against Wake with Micah out. We played extremely well against Baylor and they just made a ton of shots. What exactly has led you to believe that we’re this awful of a team?
I think we're as good as any team in the conference, potentially. But we're one injury away for not being in the top 7 or 8, unfortunately.
In terms of depth we’re probably one of the worst in the conference. Consequences of a coaching change and an era where kids won’t stick around if it’s not sunshine and rainbows.
Where do I say we’re awful? There were seven SEC teams that were rated ahead of us by practically every college basketball exper to begin the season. in addition, Ole Miss and South Carolina, have surprised everyone and are unbeaten. Three of the other four remaining teams have played about as well as us; maybe a little better, maybe a little worse. We are not the only team in the SEC that is missing one or more players. I don’t have a clue how this Gator team is going to perform. We might explode and be a top five team in the conference, or we might end up in the bottom half of the conference. I expected us to have been seven and one at this point in the season. I am not happy with five and three.
