    Note to Billy:

Sorry, coach. That is....sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but.... that's just the way it is.

    C'est la vie.

The problem with your analogy is that Day has "proven" himself to his base. Napier is still on the outside looking in. He needs to win a couple of beauty contests.

I am not aware of any facts, but I would say that the problem was/is that the more mature coaches were not enamored with taking marching orders from a young upstart who probably wasn't listening to what they had to say. Spencer would not have that problem under Elko. It is what it is. AND it again (if I am correct) shows how much ground Napier has to make up in a short amount of time.

Well then, I guess we know who our next HC will be. Maybe an even steven swap.

I couldn’t agree more. The NIL money is going to be key to get quality players to come in through the portal. Hopefully our boosters have the.$$$To make this happen.

Hard to call them Gators when they come and go through a revolving door. Maybe some of them don't make the grades to stay.

Even after being a missed field goal away from the NC game? Tough crowd.

I live in Columbus too, and most Buckeye fans are spoiled crybabies. They feel they are entitled to a win over Michigan and a playoff berth every season. I would say a very large portion of the fanbase wants Day fired.

We have had back to back losing seasons, and our team defense has been garbage basically since 2019.

Can’t much afford to be losing good players on D. Of course the portal gives us an opportunity to plug holes right away (just as OSU will get to reload at QB). But it’s still less than ideal.

The problem is more or less our recent track record of not being good on D. Literally the only thing anyone was hanging their hat on all year was that we were so young on D. That those young guys will gel and get much better as a unit. If you start losing those young starters, then all that “just wait and see” pretty much amounts to bs.

Could that also not be applied to coaches who have consecutive losing seasons?

It's more likely he was run out of town. I know a couple OSU fans, they dislike him way more than anyone here EVER disliked Mertz.

I don’t know how this will go. Next year’s schedule is absurd. I’m not thinking it’s going to go well next year either. I think we are staring at the barrel of a 4 win season. Then what? We won’t fire him until midway through the 2025 season because they’ll point at the 2024 schedule and give him a pass. This is depressing to think about.

Who says they're expecting different results? Anyways, if you make a shot in the dark hire like Scott strikling did you should let it pan out before you make a decision to move on. And yes, hiring someone with little record of success except for a couple years at a small school and paying them $7M to implement a mystery "process" is much like handing the keys to your f1 car to someone who did well on the driver's Ed midterm exam, a complete shot in the dark.

Mystery process? You think Billy was like "I've got a process" and Stricklebaum was just like "Awesome don't tell me about it?" That's to say nothing of the fact that a number of top coaches had no HC experience at all when hired, small school or otherwise, so I'm not sure what "F1 driver" you think we should've hired but I'm pretty sure he's a figment of your imagination.

Our lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ball have been deficient for many years, like you said. And we primarily keep signing 3 star linemen who consistently get outplayed by the 4 & 5 star guys other SEC teams get. Until the trenches get drastically better, our record will keep being mediocre. And the 2024 schedule is BRUTAL.
