QB’s are portal jumping. https://247sports.com/Article/decor...briel-entering-the-transfer-portal-222264258/
Walter Nolan is in the portal Texas A&M's Nolen entering transfer portal: Can Aggies keep 2022 class together?
Imagine your team going 11-1 and your starting QB with two years left just up and leaves. WTH? Is this even college football? That would be like Danny Weurffel leaving after the 94 season in hopes of a better opportunity somewhere else. Wow.
Not weird at all....It was just reported that a starting QB like this can get $6MM. If that was my kid - you 100% enter free agency. I've had a darn good career - don't need the money - but you don't turn down $6MM at that age because of the pressure to be loyal to a brand.
Gotta be honest...all of this totally sucks for the game. Maybe it's better for the players (although you could argue it isnt). But it's pretty miserable as a fan and (I assume) coaches.
He'll prob be the best DT in the portal. Which is why I assume we have little to no chance. And if aTm $$ isn't enough to keep him, I don't know what is. Maybe Elko isn't doing the primmadonna thing.
College football is crazy...maybe at some point back up QB's in the NFL would want to return to college to play because they can make more money...joking aside you will definitely see underclassmen staying in college and not leaving early for the NFL if they can now start getting paid 10 million to stay in college for a year. At some point the bubble will burst and schools will leave to form their own college league because they can't afford to compete with the dollars.
I don't follow OSU at all so was not aware. I assume OSU fans are like most fans in that, unless the starter is an all- time great, the backup QB is the most popular guy on campus.
That’s the thing. Some of our fans are taking shots at Billy for guys transferring, but this is happening everywhere with the nature of the portal being free agency.
“Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming, who once ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the 2020 recruiting cycle, will enter the transfer portal. Fleming was considered the crown jewel of the Buckeyes 2020 recruiting class that included future NFL players such as OL Paris Johnson Jr., wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and quarterback C.J. Stroud. Fleming was the No. 1 overall WR in the cycle and the top-ranked player from that Ohio State recruiting class.”
