Of course FSU got screwed!! And if they got in, someone else would have gotten screwed. That’s the nature of a 4 team college playoff, where teams are picked based on opinion. It’s the definition of farcical. Every year a team that is “deserving” gets screwed. This year it was FSU. And if both Bama and Georgia got screwed, or Texas got screwed, can you imagine the uproar of their fans? We’d be hearing the same uproar, the same words, just from different fan bases and representatives of those bases. There’s nothing novel about FSU’s arguments. They’re just the latest to suffer from a farcical system that thankfully goes away next year (until we hear the same screaming from the 13th ranked team).
Let me check... politicians upset by.... politics? "Selection Committee" is pretty clear. People will always act in their own best interests. It sucks for FSU, but it had to be someone...
FSU did not get screwed. They would have been invited if their All-American quarterback hadn’t been injured. However, he did get injured, and they no longer are a top-4 team. They are not even a top-10 team. As for Alabama, they lost an early season game to a really good team, and then ran the table, including beating Georgia in the SEC championship game. They deserve to be in the playoffs.
They didn't get screwed. When you look at all the metrics comparing Bama (or UGA) to FSU, the only metric they would come out ahead in is in the loss column. Every other aspect about their season falls short of those two teams. Bottom line is really the only thing they are pissed about is missing out on the big money for the Playoff Teams. They know they would have had the beat shit out of them whoever they played in the playoff (and likely by UGA too but for less money).
Btw. Unpopular opinion around here I'm sure, but I think FSU should have gotten in over Texas. I still enjoy all the nole tears though.
Texas did beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa and throttled Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship. Although FSU arguably has a case they played a weak schedule in a cupcake conference.
No one should be more mad than Michigan. Imagine thinking you were getting FSU with a 3rd string QB in a 1 v 4 matchup licking your cops, only to get Saban's Alabama. Of course they blew it against TCU so maybe its better this way to go out to Bama.
see for yourself. This tells you all you need to know about FSU and whether they belong in the playoffs.
The elected officials don’t care, they are just catering to their base by complaining. It’s an easy win for them with almost no effort. Half of hem are probably laughing about it privately, or don’t even understand what the CFP criteria is in the first place.
Oh blessed day please never end. "Florida State was treated very badly by the ‘Committee,’ he wrote on the social media platform. "They become the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs. Really bad lobbying effort….Lets blame DeSancticmonious!!!" Trump blasts CFP officials after Florida State left out, takes parting shot at DeSantis
"first power five team to be left out ...." I'm guessing he heard a snippet on Fox or glanced at a post on X, but doesn't have a clue what actually happened.
My point is that SOMEONE is gong to feel screwed, and rightfully so under the current subject farce of a system. Their beef is no different than scores of teams left out before them.
Wait...we are a power five team and didn't make the playoff. I now empathize with FSU, as we were both robbed!
I completely understand why FSU fans are mad, and I am sure I would be as well. But I also understand the strength of schedule argument and the QB injury being considered. I don't think there is any provision whereby P5 teams are guaranteed anything whether undefeated or not. Given that and given the fact there are five "power" conferences but only four playoff spots meant that the ultimate decision would be even more subjective than it might have otherwise been. I thought eight playoff teams would have been sufficient but we'll see how it works with 12.
At least we've scratched the insurance Crisis off our to do list and moved on to the important govt shit.
