Marshall was only shooting 3's at a 23% clip coming in to this game. Mathura just fouled out, giving them 3 free throws and they take the lead with just over a minute to go.
the refs have just let Marshall get away with assault the last 3 minutes of the game, these games are tough on schools like ours really. We are kind of not a big shot yet but big enough to draw the crowds but not draw the ire of the NCAA if officiating is not overly suspect. This has been very bad, but our girls got drawn into their game plan the last 5 miutes jacking up jumpers for no reason instead of pounding it inside
Kelly Rae is a great recruiter, she is still learning a lot as a HC..on a neutral ct or at our place we win by 20..playing there ..ugh
no earthly way the way they play they should have shot almost 40 FTs already today..that says a lot about the calls against us
and that is the game..just an awful ending up 7 with 4 minutes left and then all of a sudden they stopped calling the grabbing and holding fouls on Marshall..they are not a bad team..they have had a lot of close losses, just should not have played a team like that on their home court. I dont understand our scheduling these teams on the road like this They are no win situations..if we win we were supposed to win if we lose it looks like a bad loss. Plus you get officiating like this crap we ran into today
now we have to have 2 other games like this where it is the home teams superbowl and our girls havent been home in forever..what dumb AD got this schedule together?
I just can't see blaming refs when this game shouldn't have been close. Our team put themselves in a position where officiating could become a factor. You just have to go into a true road game knowing and expecting calls not to go your way. The really good teams overcome, adjust to the refs and win anyway. This was a horrible loss that should never have happened. We didn't score the last 3:28 of the game, while they scored 10 points in the last 3:13. We just played a dumb game and got beat by a team that couldn't beat Morehead State, Northern KY, Wright State or George Mason.
Dang. Football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball. We just keep letting late leads slip away in every sport.
Definitely love the recruiting. We gotta get better scheme wise, basketball IQ wise, and effort wise.
The refs suck in every WBB game I have ever seen. You have to expect it. They didn't cost us the game.
I dont blame the refs for the loss, we knew what we would be getting if we went there and played and yes they lost to those teams on the road. We did play a dumb game, I said that in my post. I hate when people just read parts of my post and not the entire product of the post. I know we didnt score in the last 3 or whatever minutes I was watching the game same as you. I just dont like the scheduling of this game period. It does nothing for us, and if you think they didnt foul us in the last 3 minutes then you are turning a blind eye to it. I specifically said we are not taking advantage of our size, Kelly Rae needs to improve on her coaching and she will..But I damn sure can complain about the officiating when they shot 40 FTs ..you dont find that strange?
Word is Kelly wanted these games because of how the team struggled on the road last year. How are they going to beat SEC teams on the road if they can’t figure out how to beat Marshall?
No our ladies jacking up bad shots from 5 minutes left to 2 minutes left is what the game slip away..we never should have been in that position. Again I question the AD or whoever is scheduling these teams why on the road? It does no good for our strength of schedule. These teams should be coming to our place period. No home and home or anything like that. There is no reason to play in Boiling Springs NC against Garner Webb either. We get no value from these games and then things like this can happen that damages your program. This does not look good on a NCAA resume. A win there wouldnt have either
Funny I was told the opposite since we have been on the road for the last few years doing this..like Asheville last year and we beat Vandy, Mizzu and A&M on the road last year and the year before that we played at George Mason and lost.
