The SEC champion wins better than 75% of all national championships today because we are the best conference. Just remember Florida did not belong on the same field with Ohio State. You can throw that one loss record out the window and know that the SEC champion is usually the best team regardless of record.
I’m not sure how my quote of Georgia having to play Bama to be the sec champion got in the above post. All the other con play weak teams in their game unless you consider the pac 12 teams to be on the same level as the big boys. They haven’t won in over two decades.

Don't buy this one. They've got a very weak schedule and don't win games against decent out of conference opponents.

They beat Ohio state who almost beat Georgia last year. The thing is, they recruit legit on the los and don’t get manhandled by Georgia. They can at least make a game of it if they don’t shoot themselves in the foot. Most other teams don’t have the bigs to even let their skill players have a shot.

If Alabama, Texas, Washington, and Meatchicken all win. What justification is there to gift Georgia a playoff spot again, and which team gets left out? Not one of the undefeateds, surely. So the team with an equal record who beat Georgia head-to-head or the team with an equal record who beat Bama head-to-head?

I understand the premise that the conference champion of the best league should be in. But I don’t think it should be an absolute. You said it yourself, *if* two teams have similar resumes, you then use H2H results. Well I would consider Texas and Alabama to you have pretty dang similar resumes, and Texas won head to head.

IF, and it's a big if, Bama beats ga they are in and it actually helps Texas get in imo. If bama wins--
Mich, Wash, Bama and Texas are the 4.
F ga. Their only shot would be a mich loss which is unlikely.

I just don't see how u can leave this Texas team out. They're probably gonna score 50 today.

If Bama wins I think they’re in and UGA out.

I think a couple of other things need to happen to keep Georgia out, but I hope it happens.

The justification that neither Michigan or Washington is the better team. They could be 48-0 right now and that doesn't make them better.

If record is all that matters what justification is there to have Alabama ranked over James Madison?

If Georgia loses a close game to Alabama then likely UGA will be 4th and Alabama 5th sitting at home.

Would be surprising to see it happen that way. I just don’t see them keeping out a 1 loss sec champion Alabama.

If the remaining games go chalk, and Bama wins, I think it’s Mich, Wash, Bama, Tx …with UGA & FSU out. Which would make my week.

I’m not sure you’re answering the question I asked, though. With victories, Washington and Meatchicken are in. No point arguing why they shouldn’t be in. They just will be. I want to know, in the event of Alabama and Texas victories today, who you think Georgia will get in over.

If you really think Georgia will get in no matter what, then it seems like your answer should be Texas. You can’t have Georgia pass over a team they literally just lost to head-to-head. Still I hope Georgia is out on its ass in whatever scenario it takes to make that happen. Hell, I can even live with SWAC winning one more game this year if it increases the chances of Georgia being frozen out.

I did answer. Unless UGA gets blown out they won't drop out of the top 4 anyway they'll just get rearranged. And they shouldn't, as much as I don't like them they've won 29 straight and the last 2 national championships in the process beating the top teams in those playoffs. Losing to Alabama is not really saying they aren't the best team in 2023, Alabama is debatably a playoff worthy team every year.

The last sentence of the post you replied to says this. I'm not sure you're reading what you're replying to.

Playoff rules says a non-champ has to be unequivocally better than a conf champ to make the playoff. You really think the committee will decide UGA is "unequivocally" better than Bama the day after losing to them on a neutral field and ending up with an equal record? Throw in the fact Bama played a better schedule and challenged themselves OOC while UGA didn't, and your scenario is far-fetched to say the least.

You talked about Washington and/or Meatchicken (assuming they win) getting left out in favor of a one-loss Georgia. That just is not realistic. I was looking for a specific answer on whether you thought Georgia passes over Alabama or Texas in that case. It seems like you’re just saying “Whatever. They’ll pass over somebody. The who is irrelevant.”

Yeah, I agree, and I can’t see a realistic scenario where Alabama wins but Georgia gets in and Alabama does not. It’s fantastical. I can see a realistic scenario where both teams are in. And I can see a less likely but realistic scenario where both teams are out in, say, a Meatchicken, Washington, SWAC, Texas playoff.
