It matters but it was game one. Bama would be the fav now I would think if they played now I think. That’s means Vegas thinks Bama is the better team.
If two teams have similar resumes and haven’t played each other, then by all means go with the eye test and who is perceived as better. But if there’s a head to head record?? How do you not choose the team that won? Sorry, but this is just obvious SEC bias.
Game one, Milroes first start. Who is the better team now is suppose to be how it works. I’d pick Bama heads up against any team in the nation except the puppies. Four best teams is how it’s written.
I guess we might as well not even count the regular season then. 12 exhibition games, then just pick 4 teams with the most cache and call it a playoff.
I definitely do not think it’s a foregone conclusion that Alabama beats Texas. Let’s not act like the Tide are world beaters. It took an absolute miracle for them to beat an Auburn team that literally just got the crap beat out of them by New Mexico State. So, call me crazy for going with the actual data and the head to head results.
I will concede though that you are probably right. If Alabama beats Georgia, I see them getting in over Texas. I just disagree with the decision, that’s all.
It could go either way. I hate Bama but I think they had a better chance than anyone to beat geo last year too. They are the only team tgat more than likely won’t get manhandled.
Bama beats UGA in a close game Mich wins Wash wins Texas and FSU lose you get a final 4 of: Mich Wash Bama UGA with OSU left out for not playing in a conference championship game There is a scenario where the SEC can play for the NC....LOL
No. It's. Not. The games HAVE to matter. Those two teams PLAYED each other for crying out loud. And Texas won. In Bama's own stadium. By double digits. Why can't some of you comprehend this very simple fact? The games HAVE TO MATTER. If not, why even bother playing them? Just have 12 weeks of exhibition games and then have Las Vegas select the playoff. On that note, Vegas had Oregon a double-digit favorite last night. It's a good thing they actually played the game!
so just for chits and giggles- let's say both ugaly and half assed u lose- who is in the invitational?
I think Alabama has an excellent chance of beating Georgia. I think Louisville has an excellent chance of beating FSU. (Let FSU whine over the loss of their QBs during the off-season.). If Alabama wins the whole thing, I think Saban has an excellent chance of retiring. Wouldn’t THAT upset the applecart in college coaching circles! Dabo, is that you out there?
It's never been the four best teams, it's been the teams that will bring the highest ratings and aren't egregiously bad. Why do you think there's always a ND or Michigan in despite never beating anyone of substance outside OSU, who also plays nobody. Nobody thought tcu was a top four team last year but the story got viewers. No way UGA is out unless they get blown out of the building. They're clearly the best team and have a lot of eyeballs since there's no other football school in Georgia. Plus the people who hate them will watch.
The four best is total bullshit because it never happens. I’d put Georgia, Michigan, Bama and Texas no matter what if I wanted to pick the four best teams
I think you are overthinking this. The SEC is not going to get shut out of the playoffs this year, nor should they. The champion of the best conference in the country will get a bid. That is your starting point. *If* Alabama wins, they are in. Georgia becomes the question mark. Obviously, Georgia is in with a win as well. If it came to comparing Alabama and Texas, you compare the entire resumes, and *if* they are similar, you use H2H as a tie-breaker. For what it's worth, Texas has one of the hardest schedules in the country according to Sagarin, so I'm not certain it would be a gimme for Alabama to be considered ahead of Texas. Regardless, the SEC Championship is a trump card (again, this year) for the top 4, though. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
