You’ve just been given the keys to a college football program and you get to choose your offensive and defensive coordinators. Who ya got? To be clear you have unlimited funds and they can’t say no. No current head coaches. No NFL current coaches.

Someone already said Dan Mullen and Will Muschamp so just to change it up a bit:

    Dan Mullen and Manny Diaz.

The only offensive mind I like more than Dan Mullen for college football right now is Lincoln Riley, but he doesn't meet the criteria set by the OP. Kiffin is up there as well. Next guy after those would probably be Sarkisian, but all of those guys are currently head coaches.

Side note: Dan Mullen actually had Manny Diaz as a Defensive Coordinator at Mississippi State as well as Geoff Collins. If only we had one of those guys as opposed to Todd Grantham.

I’m taking some up and comers with Will Stein from Oregon and Jesse Minter out of Michigan and throwing in Tebow as my S/C +recruiting. Could easily go old school with SOS etc but I’m trying to find the next Urban.

    In my head--- UF
    OC Ryan Grubb
    DC Jim Knowles

since I am starting a program from scratch, I’d like a retractable dome stadium - fits 70,000,

i’d like a retractable roof with real grass practice facility

some are still in love with Dan Mullen. Comparing 2008 vs 2009 offenses, our 2009 group (6410 yards) had more yards than 2008 (6231 yards), so maybe it was the players and not the OC as no one here is putting the Daz on their team

I guess. Pretty sad that the hate is so high people can't even accept Mullen is good at the one thing he's good at - coaching offense. He said OC, not Recruiting Coordinator and it's kind of hard to argue with Mullen's results. I don't know about you, but the only offenses I enjoyed watching more were SOS's.

That said, here's an oldie but a goodie that should conjure up previous coaching search threads: Mike Shanahan. LOL!

Does that include the Bowl Game? He took the MSU job in December. Was he the OC against OU? I don't remember and can't find anything online other than he took the MSU job on Dec. 11.

    OC - Mike Shanahan
    DC - Bob Stoops

Surely one of them will be our head coach at some point.

Instead of OC and DC, can I have unlimited NIL money to offer players and they can't say no? Wouldn't even need 80 of them, 40 or so would do.

For OC I'd have to have the HBC. Anyone remember Zaven Yaralian? Had wicked defenses including the team that was the first we ever had ranked #1. His defenses were the only thing we had during '86 & '87 other than Emmitt. Charlie Strong had great defenses during his time with Urban.

You didn’t specify that I couldn’t use a Time Machine so, I’m going with 80s Buddy Ryan paired with 90s Spurrier. :D

My point was that Daz's numbers were as good as Mullen's with most of the same players, so was DM that good or just have good players? Seems like Shanahan was here for only 1 year and it's tough to remember his production.

No idea, regardless, his numbers were damn close to Adazio's

So Daz without Percy, his OC prowess >> Dan Mullen!

I didn't care for DM as OC so I was never on the DM HC train. I was accused of being a Dawg fan a few times when I criticized him before his downfall.

Now we're thinking outside the box. I'm gonna go with George Patton for Offense and Leonidas for D.
