It's not, and the fact that two posters suggested such tells you how incredibly ignorant some Gator fans truly are. And they have no qualms about posting on the internet and showing how dumb they are. Athletic Directors in the SEC don't get to pick their in conference schedule. They do have more leeway out of conference, but those schedules are set years in advance. And for years, posters here have whined about not having a tougher out of conference schedule. Welp...they got their wish.
The most brutal schedule in the entire country. I can already hear the swords being unsheathed aiming for CBN after a couple of losses. Most posters should weigh the brutality of this schedule with the on field results. Sure CBN needs portal help, and he needs to keep the recruiting class together AND bring in a few surprises. I like what he’s doing on the recruiting trail, and he’s already made some coaching decisions. Initially he’s making the right moves, and I hope that continues. We aren’t Georgia and we’re not Alabama….at least not yet.
I think he’s merely saying that this team needs to hungrier this offseason, preparing for Miami like it matters. Showing up more polished and motivated than it did against Utah this season. That team seemed to assume everything would just come together during the game for them. And, yes, I know that was more of a failure of coaching than the players. But did these coaches learn anything from, say, having two players on the field with the same number or not enough players on the field for FGs? We will see.
Well, then you’ll not like this. My tolerance for excuse-ridden losing seasons under Napier is at an absolute end. I don’t care how tough the schedule is. He had better sort it out this season.
Actually, that is the name of my team on Game of Thrones Conquest. I didn’t come up with it, but it can’t be a coincidence…
He negotiated to have UM back on the schedule...this was before the realignment of course, but it just adds to the schedule being rough. I seriously doubt another non-conference major P5 school will ever be added to the schedule again.
If (big IF) CBN gets his act together and with a healthy Mertz with a year in the system under his belt, I can see us going 9-3 next year (losses to UGA, FSU and Texas). I think however the most likely scenario is 6-6.
Unless we start making payouts to get out of the games, we have Cal, Arizona St, NC State, Colorado and Notre Dame on the schedule until the end of the decade.
The vast majority of humans are complete and total morons. Our fanbase, like all fanbases, is no exception.
FWIW, the only one of our non-scheduled opponents (Texas, MSU, Ole Miss, UK, LSU) that doesn’t already have another opponent on Sept 21st is MSU. So that day will either be @MSU or an early season bye. I’m guessing the other bye will be Oct 26th, the week before UGA.
Florida is in a catch 22 next year. 5-7 is a very real possibility again next year. Do you fire Napier after a 16-21 record? Or do you blame the schedule and give him another year?
