Alexis Stucky Named to SEC Community Service Team - Florida Gators And she did on just one leg. Just think....
Western Michigan knocked out Auburn in their first round match 3-0. Georgia Tech beat South Alabama 3-1 and will play the winner of the Gator match.
Cleanly played first set. Only 2 hitting errors, only 2 service errors, and only 7 serve receptions that weren't right to the setter without chasing. (Although, Canaan had 3 of them.) That's the way to do it.
Another minimal-error set. I counted only 3 serve receptions that forced Muff to move from her spot, and only one or two hitting errors. Martin did have 2 sevice errors. (I'm sure she'll work on that in the offseason.) But, all in all, a well played second set.
Gators win 3-0. Easily the fewest errors in a match they've played this year (IMO). It was very, very good volleyball.
25-18, 25-16, 25-17. Very impressive. Hit .313 for the match and held FGCU to .060. Only 8 service errors to 6 aces, 14 blocks and 47 digs in 3 sets is amazing. Only 12 attack errors. Martin, Essix and Muff has excellent games and Victoria was very good. Hope they play this well against Georgia Tech to advance to the Sweet 16.
Ben Sasse showed Gators VB some love by showing up for the game and remaining until the end. OTOH, he was mostly on his laptop and cell phone -- maybe he was trying to be just like the students who can't seem to separate from their devices. For some odd reason, his young son came down and sat right next to us for most of the game.
I have mixed emotions. I'd like to see UF advance to the Sweet 16, but I'd rather not see the crippled Gators get embarrassed at UNL. However, I'd very much like to see UF vs. UNL in the 2024 season/tournament with both teams healthy.
We are too talented to be slaughtered unless the stars are aligned, and our play execution is lousy….but I feel ya. It’s still serve, pass, attack
If on any ESPN channel not named ESPN+, I'll be watching, but I fear our best still gets us beat similar to what the Gators did to FGCU. UF has to be "practically perfect in every way" to have a chance to pull off the upset of the year. However, this Gator team is not Mary Poppins.
Just wanna win tonight so we get to the Sweet 16. That would be an accomplishment, IMO. Georgia Tech is pretty good.
