Tough when both attorneys listed in the story have told the same story. Not sure who else they would rely on, given that these two were in charge of this case.

Why would you pay taxes on an outlay? Jean will need to declare taxes. I assume Donald will right it off as a business expense.. keeping up his P grabbing image.

There are so many legal trouble threads its hard to choose where this belongs:

Cochise County supervisors charged with election interference

An Arizona grand jury has issued an indictment charging two Cochise County supervisors with interfering with the 2022 election related to their attempts to delay certification of the vote.

Supervisors Peggy Judd, 61, and Tom Crosby, 64, are each charged with felony counts of conspiracy and interference with an election officer.

“The repeated attempts to undermine our democracy are unacceptable,” said Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat whose office investigated and presented the case to the grand jury. “I took an oath to uphold the rule of law, and my office will continue to enforce Arizona’s elections laws and support our election officials as they carry out the duties and responsibilities of their offices.”

He doesn’t pay on the “outlay”. He would pay personal income taxes on the withdrawal - the distribution of income from his business to his personal account, which he then used to pay Carrol. As far as the payment itself, it’s not a business expense and therefore not likely deductible from his PERSONAL taxes (in effect, he took $40 million in income but there is no deductible offset as this is a personal legal settlement not a business related expense… of course Trump being Trump he’ll probably claim it anyway).

I just found that bit intersting because the guy basically pays no taxes (10 of last 15 years or something like that, with another year of $750). Is he still going to pay $0 with a $40 million transfer on the public record?

    To summarize:
    • Trump's lawyers argued in court that their defense for trying to overturn the 2020 election was that the Russians interfered in the 2016 election.
    • Jennifer Little, another Trump lawyer testified that she previously told Trump that if he signed off on the classified documents subpoena and lied, "It's going to be a crime." He did exactly that.
    • The court appointed financial monitor overseeing the Trump Org notified the judge that Trump moved $40M out of Tthe company without notifying her, in violation of a court order
    • Trump is literally in the middle of a trial over Trump Org finances
    • Two days ago, Trump wanted to call the monitor as a defense witness in hopes she'd say she hasn't witnessed any fraudulent behavior at the company
    • Trump has since threatened the judge's wife
    • Scott Perry's text messges showing he was neck deep in the plot to end our democracy were accidentally unsealed in a court filing
    • Two Republican officials in AZ were indicted for failing to certify the 2022 elections in their county on felony counts of conspiracy and interference with an election officer.
    • Trump threatened to use the government to prosecute MSNBC

Its been a very bad, horrible, not good week for trump.

This is the GOP leading candidate.

Trump attacks wife of New York judge after gag order reinstated by court

Donald Trump renewed attacks on the wife of the judge in the New York civil fraud trial of his business empire, before and almost immediately after an appellate court on Thursday reinstated a gag order against him in the case.

He called Dawn Engoron a “Trump hating wife” and said that she and Arthur Engoron’s law clerk had “taken over control of the New York State Witch Hunt Trial aimed at me, my family, and the Republican Party”.

Trump posted screenshots of vulgar and profane anti-Trump messages on X, formerly known as Twitter, purported to have been made by Dawn Engoron – prompting her swiftly to assert that she does not have an account.

“I do not have a Twitter account. This is not me. I have not posted any anti-Trump messages,” Dawn Engoron told Newsweek.

What do you suppose would happen to any of the rest of us if we made the same threats? hint: something about scrubbing toilets in lockup with a toothbrush. Yet this guy whines about being persecuted. To the contrary: he's SPAYSHUL.

While the case should be a slam dunk based on the law and the facts keep in mind that thanks to Trump's favorite judge Aileen Cannon the case will be tried in Ft. Pierce, not West Palm Beach or Miami. The residents of the counties from which the jury pool will be drawn voted for Trump by somewhere around a 70% percent margin and it only takes a single dissenting juror for the case to end up as mistrial. That being said I suspect that if Trump is tried and the case ends up with a hung jury the DOJ will take another shot at the Donald assuming that doesn't win the election.

This ruling could generate an abundance of lawsuits that will keep trump in court from now to the end of time.

Trumps claims that "we've been waging an all-out war on American democracy". At some point, someone has to take him at his word and put our little dictator/conman in jail for a few decades.

Trump's "war on democracy" fumble sparks backlash

What is a mystery to me is how none of the judges in Trump's court cases have found him in contempt of court, and had him spend a few nights in jail and fined him a few hundred thousand dollars. Trump does what he wants, says what he wants, insults and threatens judges and prosecutors alike, and there are no consequences. No one else could get away with those behaviors.

I’m not a lawyer but this seems like witness intimidation.

Trump may have worse cognitive decline than Biden, according to an official who served on Trump's White House staff. Apparently, being recognized as the criminal he's always been has been hard on Dishonest Donald.

Former Trump White House official "stunned" at his visible "decline" in Iowa speech

Someone needs to threaten this woman quick, so Trump can regain his mental faculties.
