I wouldn’t say i’m embarrassed. But if FSU had spit in our players face or two of them had hit our Qb like that on a slide, we would be up in arms about how horrible a coach Norvell is.
Egg-zackly. And talking about it for years. We pride ourselves on maintaining a higher standard but these days it sadly isn’t the case
Per Gator country, Prior to the FSU game Max Brown had less than 50 snaps. In the FSU game he had 63 snaps. You got to give this kid credit for not having stage fright. The way he played in the 4th quarter against LSU he looked very cool and more than just competitive. In the FSU game it was a shame that the Gator O-line was a no show for the game. Max barely had enough time to just take the snap from the center. Let alone to get set up to hand off or make a pass.
I’d like to see the backups get cycled in for some game time experience but you can’t when you are fighting for your life in every game. This is another way the lack of aggression every time we get up a few points hurts the team. Keep your foot on the gas and you can get your backups some playing time.
Yeah..we weren't up enough to give back ups some experience..our freshmen had to contribute and learn quickly
But we can't say CBN allows it. Lyons hasn't played a down since that play. And I guarantee he would have been benched for at least the next game if there was one. He benched Mizzccua for a whole game for protecting his QB in that scuffle. Hard to say what CBN would have done had it not been our last game.
While I agree with the sentiment of the thread, you do realize the play of the team good or bad has absolutely zero effect on how you are perceived. These threads are so overly dramatic about being embararrassed... Sigh, leave those feelings to the actual people affected, the players and coaches. No one cares how your or I feel after this season but we sure hope the team and coaches were embarrassed and use that as fire to keep improving for next season. The team, overall, performed great against such a hard schedule, considering all the underclassmen starters and injuries. A few bad plays and stupid decisions here and there should not override the pride you should have in these underclassmen giving it their all. Focus on that.
We can point to those BUT, let’s talk about the fact that after we got the safety we pull out a gadget play that was doomed to fail. That defense was ripe to let us have another score. Instead of 19-0 we go into halftime hanging for dear leader life. I want to say both failed kicks were due to penalties knocking him out of range. These are the things that cost us the game. Was the spitting unfortunate, of course it was but what people aren’t going to call out was F$u players were chirping all game long and there were a few times I thought there was going to be a brawl. The refs lost control of the game. Standing over Wilson after a tackle and there were a couple WWE suplexes done as well. To those that point to the refs do you really think an SEC crew would have been better? They have screwed us even more than these ACC refs did.
No, the momentum was shattered when we had field position up 12-zip and a brain fart trick play that was completely unnecessary totally failed. The air went out of them right there and then. Then I felt pretty sure that fsu was going to score to end the half, which they did.
I'm an alum and a big fan as well. Been going to games since 1961. I wasn't embarrassed by the kid's dumbass actions, but I was pissed.
That was surely a horrible way to finish a drive, especially since we had 1st and goal at the one and didn't even get a field goal out of it, but we didn't lose momentum after that, because we drove down the field on the next two possessions and had a 12-0 lead before the spitting incident, which is what we're talking about, and that happened way after the first drive.
