You think it's kids directing the band on when to play? Do you know whose instruction the drum major is following? It's called the band director.
Tell you what, find any footage with the band playing after a snap.....just one play. I'll wait. Ironically, our section was commenting how polished they are at playing right until they have to stop. Of course they gain the desired effect because the fans continue to do their little wailing after the band has stopped. It really didn't impact anything of course, best game of the year for UF re false starts.
Lol, you think I'm going to listen to that abomination a hundred times to prove someone on an Internet forum wrong? You couldn't pay me to subject myself to that. I agree that the vast majority of plays they stopped on time, but not every time. I think it happened twice IIRC.
The band is a big part of the experience. Damn right they contribute to the cheering. Two of my favorite tunes played by The Pride of the Sunshine are Suwannee and Men of Florida Go Gators
1) It's going to be loud because everyone in the band is playing in unison. And they play it all game non-stop. 2) The Pride of the Sunshine needs to arrange a song of a similar nature that they can play that can equal the power of that dreadful song and can be played all throughout the game.
The band isn't going to play without the band director giving them permission to play. Florida State's band isn't run like Stanford. lol
Our fans ( at least the ones actually at the game) were plenty loud. I really didn’t notice their band that much, ours either for that matter. (I am in the north end zone however) They did have more fans at the game than I’ve seen before, but that’s on the jackass West side and end zone fans that sold them to them. Even then they didn’t get loud until the game turned in their favor. That said, I agree beat their asses and they become a lot less annoying.
I did attend the games and the band had nothing to do with my cheering or enjoyment. Other than the Alma Mater, the Florida Fight Song, We Are The Boys From Old Florida, and Gator Jaws, had they not been there I wouldn't have given them any thought whatsoever.
Two songs I really love are The Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech, (especially the lyrics), and Rocky Top. And yet I don’t care for Georgia Tech and when I hear Rocky Top at a Gator game I want to vomit.
Kind of random, but if you go to the country music hall of fame museum in Nashville they have the original written lyrics of Rocky Top on display.
Never disagreed with you on anything @MarineG8R but I have to draw the line on this one. (not enough for dislikes or bacon cause I’m not an ahole) If I’m gonna pay up to 1k a ticket to come to a home game from 2k miles away it might possibly not be that one just because of that band. 30 years or more of that sound and it’s like nails on a chalkboard. The only thing I want to hear in the swamp is the Gator band and Tom fricken Petty.
I’m also fine if our band doesn’t go to Tallecrappy and theirs stays home as well. I fly in for home games cause theirs nothing like the Swamp.
But they play that every time they come to swamp. Somehow that’s gonna change because a bunch people got grumpy about it. It’s only irritating cause UF sucks right now. UF won that game this thread doesn’t exist.
