Romney was the only Republican Senator who voted to convict Trump both times. I think it would have still been interesting to see who MAGA would have supported against him in the primary.

Believe what you want to believe. If Romney had decided to run he would be a lock for reelection. Just prior to his announcement that he wouldn't run.
Sen. Mitt Romney’s approval rating among Utah Republicans jumps higher as he considers a second run for Senate
Edit: What's really funny is that a certain poster has drank so much of the Trump Kool-Aid that he genuinely believes that Romney would lose a Republican primary in Utah despite every poll indicating the opposite. Keep in mind that in 2018 Mitt received almost 72% of the vote in the Republican primary running against a Trump supporter and little has changed in Utah since then.

Mitt Romney says he would vote for a Democrat in 2024, calling it 'an upgrade' from Donald Trump (msn.com)

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said he would vote for some Democratic presidential candidates as the 2024 race for the White House approaches, calling them an “upgrade” from former President Donald Trump.

Asked by CBS’ Norah O’Donnell who he likes among the Republican primary field, Romney said in an interview released Friday that he would be “happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans.” But he added “maybe not Vivek” in a swipe at entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

And yet we have those who still think this douche-bag is a conservative

You are confusing being a loyal conservative with being a loyal Republican. These two need not be related at all.

What part of "happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans" is so objectionable to you? That actually sounds like a number of the conservatives on this site.

That would have been fine, but I was referring to the other comment. And I think most true Conservatives would vote for which republican candidate over a liberal.

I think we can appreciate Mr. Romney’s virtues without comparison to any poster on here.

I think his willingness to vote for a Democrat over Trump does indicate that his allegiance to the Republican party has limits, but before we can additionally declare that Romney is no conservative, we would need to define what is a conservative. What exactly makes someone a conservative?

And the conservative of TH now hate a guy they defended when he ran against Obama. How is that any different?

when someone calls any particular person a douchebag the comparison draws itself. Sometimes favorably other times not.

I don’t mean to defend the use of that moniker, but calling politicians names, an unfortunately common practice on here, isn’t quite the same as directly applying them to other posters on here. We’re all humans on here and prone to make mistakes.
