When did Muschamp have three straight 11-2 seasons? But yes, the format was basically Muschampian, with a ballsy quarterback and a great RB and WR. Spurrier used them sparingly but effectively.
Ant, I know this is another subject but I think most Gator fans are not looking for CBN to beat those teams that you mentioned. At least not yet. For me, I'm only asking for him to beat the Kentucky, Vandy, Arkansas, Mizzou, & FSU's of the world.
The same place everyone else did. And today, it wouldn't even be cheating. But Bryant was clearly one of the greatest coaches to adapt to the strengths of his team, as well as to the times. GOAT after Saban...
Glad you're such a fan of a notorious cheater who sicked the NCAA on us, told them where look (bc he wrote the book), and got us the closest penalty to the death penalty short of it--for shit bama been doing for decades--and in the process cleared path for FSU and Miami to sling shit passed us (after we were already playing catch up due to lost decade/ Dickey). Yeah buddy! All hail the Gator killer, Bear the GOAT!
That old quote about Bear kind of misses the part where he always had more and better players lol. Looks to me like Saban and Smart have the #1 and #2 classes as of today, same old same old. You can work your way down the rankings and it will correlate closesly with the playoff rankings in a couple of years …. Bama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, LSU. Might get lucky with the portal but really you’re hoping.
I have no idea. Not asking for more resources would certainly make Mullen unlike any other leader I have ever met. I do know that this has been historically a very tight-fisted organization when it comes to keeping up with other programs in terms of facilities, recruiting resources, analysts, etc. So it also wouldn’t surprise me if Mullen had asked and been told, “We have other sports programs to fund, and Spurrier won games without off-field analysts.”
Sort of hard to adapt when the O-linemen are having a major issue in the basic blocking schemes. I don't care what kind of scheme or plays that are called. Any play or scheme will not work if the O-linemen cannot block not just correctly but consistently.
You're welcome. I am indeed a fan. Met Charley and Ward Pell while an undergrad at Florida. He played by the same rules as everyone else at the time. But he also built the modern Florida program. Guess he had to be the sacrificial lamb to do that. Hey, I can respect those who were the GOAT, whether they were friend or foe. I'm a retired career Army officer, but could also respect the greatness of several German generals. I'm a son of the South, but I can also respect the abilities of the greatest Northern generals. I don't live in an All or Nothing world. And as for head to head, Bryant was 1-1 against Ray Graves. He won seven more during the Dickey Era. Hardly the Gator Killer, as we rarely played against his teams. Saban was 9-1 against us at Alabama, but all of that was after 2008. Why not consider him a GOAT, considering he has seven MNCs in the modern age. I am glad, however, that we handed LSU their only loss in 2003 with a true freshman at QB who later led the Gators to our second MNC and a head coach many here considered the worst of all time...
Not going to quibble. But to clarify, 'Gator killer' comment was referring to BB's role in screwing us via the NCAA, not the gridiron. ✌️
You listed 2011, 12, 13. So I, like Tommyvee, am extremely confused on who and when you are referring to.
When was this? Do you mean 1984? He was dead by then, and Alabama voted to allow us to keep our first SEC title.
Have to lose a dozen or so just to make room for the hs class. More if we want to bring in transfers.
